So how was it for you? (cheltenham)

Financially sound thanks in a large part to Jamie Moore,God bless him and his Dad.Great sharing a drink again with a lot of the forumites , in the Mandarin and in the plough. Well done Paul for coming all this way. Roll on Aintree and next year here.

It's only 12000 miles Roddy! It was really good to be there after missing the last four, and it was great to see you. It was also good to see the normal crew at The Plough and on the course including many posters from here.

I had a poor punting week (did my brains to be honest!), but I'll take away some great memories nonetheless. It was a superb week made by spending it in great company at the finest few square miles of turf anywhere in the world.

I was savouring a final view of the hallowed turf walking back to The Plough along the back of the course yesterday when I saw a couple of young drunk lads running down the back straight of the course acting like village idiots. They decided to jump one of the fences, not realising it was the water jump! They came out like drowned rats! Absolutely priceless:D!

The good :
The crack, company, comradeship, early mornings, late nights, good humour, hip flask always half full, the horses looking fabulous, the speed, the noise, the cheers, the appreciation of great performances by man and beast.
Shark Hanlon arriving at the morning gallop area driving a "borrowed" ground workers quad a la Danny Mullins.
To all the TH forumites I had the pleasure of meeting all week, Bless you all
The corridor outside The Istabraq Bar after racing for peace and quiet and comfort.

The bad.
The injuries, human and animal in that order.
The bulls::t publicity stunts by bookies, tv programmes and others.
The music that greets big race winners in ( I was expecting to see hoards of vikings over Cleeve Hill any minute on a tidal wave of Old Spice after shave)

I have composed a prayer/toast to sum up 2014

To The Lord and The Lambe
To Davy and Jim
That you may be Spring Heeled
Now and forever
Amen.
I intend drinking out on that for some time to come !
Marvellous stuff, lad !
