Surely there is a difference between that and taking it upon yourself to take to Twitter and post seriously insensitive, racist nonsense?

Whatever about the punishment - which looks excessive - I don't understand how he is the victim of a 'mob mentality' when he could have just kept his mouth shut in the first place.

Lord Sugar, Stan Collymore and Gary Lineker have tweeted to say they are glad he's going to jail and that morons should think before they tweet. Now are you seriously telling me that if I go on to Twitter now and tweet something racist that I will be jailed too? It's because of the wave of sympathy from the mob mentality over a proffessional footballer that this lad is banged up with his future in tatters.

No you wouldn't it was ultimately his own decision to post what he did. I don't entirely see the problem with people expressing sympathy either in a situation like this; the most disturbing aspect of it was how shocking it was to see.

Twitter gives idiots a platform to spout attention-seeking nonsense.

But the judge quoted that the out pouring of grief was a reason why he had to hand down such a harsh punishment. How can this be right? Idiots have a right to be idiots. You can't be jailed for being childish, stupid or uneducated.

A good piece. If I was in Swansea I'd be outside the jail protesting. If I were Liam I would be suing my barrister for loss of earnings for the next ten years.

Just catching up on this story now....ridiculous sentence and the guilty plea was illinformed. Del Boy called me a useless **** the other day -I've been putting him away for years so another 56 days wouldn't make much difference -

The thought of not being allowed communicate with the outside world, i.e. you and Paddy Power is seeming like a wonderful dream right now....

I couldn't find the 'What are you watching now' thread so this one is close enough. Has anyone been watching Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror on C4? Next Mondays episode is the one I'm really looking forward given its political slant. A few on here will definitely enjoy it.
