He was one of the most distinctive and handsome horses of his generation, with a real heir and presence when he stepped foot on the track.

Now Starcraft has his first crop running in Australia at the moment, and from the signs of this crop, he going to be an absolute superstar. Which could be consequential, as it appears he may be subfertile.

Yesterday his son, Star Witness, won the Group 1 $1 million MRC Blue Diamond Stakes over the 6f at Caulfield.

Good start by Starcraft, look at the sire of the horses 2nd and 3rd in that race, Redoutes Choice topclass leading sire in Aus another son of Danehill.

Redoutes Choice also sired the recent impressive UAE 2000 Guineas winner Musir.

Starcraft and Redoute's Choice have one thing in common, they stand at the famous Arrowfield Stud, owned by possibly one of the world's best judges of horseflesh, John Messara.

He is the man, who afterall, picked out Danehill, Zabeel and Redoute's Choice. He also stands Australia's current leading sire of juveniles, Snitzel, and bought Hussonet outright.

Just seen the race on ATR, that was impressive, given how wide he was taken , coming off the final bend.

His Owner Paul Makin, did spend a small fortune buying G1 winning or placed mares to send to him. and i know that they were trying to purchase the top 5 yearlings in Europe to send to top trainers. It seems a well planned mission to get him to the top
