Are there any horse racing enthusiasts or experts who follow smaller, local races in regions like Letchworth or other areas of North Hertfordshire? Preferably someone knowledgeable about the horses and riders involved in steeplechase events in those areas.

Not North Hertfordshire (very South, in fact) but there used to be a Point-to-Point at Northaw (just north of J24 of the M25 near Potters Bar) on May Bank Holiday Mondays.

Do you mean point to points?
Thanks for your reply! Yes, I mean point to points. I would love to know where I could find out more information on these smaller races as they aren't on the bigger racing websites. Do you personally follow them? Would you know of any experts to contact in the area?

Thanks Ian! So do you follow a lot of Point-to-Point races in other areas? If so, are these smaller and more local races?

You're welcome.

I've been following Point-to-Point since 1978, starting with going to Dalton Park in Yorkshire, so I guess the answer is yes.

Pointing used to be very local, with all but the Open races confined to horses from Adjacent Hunts, or even the hosting Hunt, but it's all opened up now to draw horses from all areas and you can get horses travelling the length of the country to race for a few hundred pounds.

Here's a link to the remaining U.K. Point fixtures nationwide this season - I hope it helps: Fixtures, Weatherbys Point-to-Point

KARYN646 you might find this forum Home | Pointing Pointers useful we are a very friendly group of enthusiasts and have an open Forum where any questions can be asked and also a very active group who are sponsoring 8 Hunterchases this season the first of which is at Ludlow 05/02/25. If you would like any further information please don't be afraid to ask on here or as a message.

Yes I do follow them. I am both Area Secretary for Wessex (bit further south than you are looking for) and also one of the Press Officers so I am currently writing up the report from yesterdays meeting at Milborne St Andrew where we ended up having ten races and 89 runners! Cracking day - even had a horse win who ran in the Pardubice last time and Paul Nichols was there (as he often is locally) supporting daughter Olive who was riding.

The Weatherbys website (plus Pointing Pointers) and Go Pointing have all the tools you require. You can even watch videos on the first site (think you have to pay) but all the form is free. Plus you can see all the meeting previews and reports as they happen.

As Gullible says, do feel free to ask any questions.
