Sudoku

There's now one in the Radio Times, and a colleague tells me if I start doing them, I might find my mental maths ability (which is currently at 'Infant' level) improves if I do them. Fine, except I don't actually know HOW you do them, and there are no instructions on the tin! If someone can tell me what the goal is, or rather, how you get to the goal, I'd quite like to see if I can get past my numerophobia, or whatever a fear of numbers is! :(

Ok, Jon. the goal is that you place the numbers 1-9 in every column, row and every square. No row, column or square can have two numbers the same.

This will give you more of an idea. Roll the mouse over the puzzle to see a solution.

AHAAAAH!! I thank you! No wonder you were made Teecher of the Yeer, Pee! That's not a lot different to a sort of wordsearch game, really, only it's numbers instead of figures. And it doesn't actually make any words. Or travel diagonally, or back to front. But, apart from that, it's just about the same!

Cheers, P. I'll give it a go. The worst that can happen is that I end up blowing my brains out.

Okay, I've started one, but not finished it yet. Somehow, I don't think it'll replace a really slyly-crafted cryptic crozzie or a nonagram!

I've got into the habit of doing an 'evil' puzzle before I go to sleep (via websudoku.com). I'm expecting Benedict XVI to allow it as contraception. My average is getting closer to 20-25 mins although my record is just under 19 mins (for the sudoku, that is).
