Tech Question - Hooking a TV to your iphone

Is it possible to hook up an iphone to a TV? I'm looking to buy a new set and want to be able to show Bet365 streaming if its possible.

Anyone have a clue what I mean?

I'd have thought that once you plugged in the cable from your iphone/laptop to the TV that it would be as simple as that but clearly not.

It is possible with a laptop, I do it regular.

Bought a HDMI cable with Ethernet and connection for 19.99 and a Lightnening Digital AV Adapter for 49.99. I can now stream the Bet365 in play screen onto my TV which will be very handy for NBA season and watching 4 on Demand etc.
