My Dad has been trying to uninstall Adobe Acrobat 7.0.7 and is having problems with it. When he goes onto add/remove programs, this message appears

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is not available.

Click Ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "Adobe Reader 7.0.7.msi" in the box below
.

If he then cancels it, the following message appears

The installation source for this product is not available. verify that the source exists and that you can access it.

Apart from doing a roll back to before this was installed, any other ideas as to how to help?

Redownloading Acrobat Reader isn't working either!! The same messages as above still appear.

He has X/P I would assume? go and select the the programme re., from my computer icon on the desktop enter the hard disk that the programme is in ie C or D if he has the disk partitioned or is running two hard disks......

Then select programmes and look for a folder marked with the name of it... then right click this folder and you have an option to delete it .. just delete it...........

1. Choose Start > Run, type appwiz.cpl in the Open text box, and then click OK to open the Add Or Remove Programs dialog box.

2. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader and click Remove.

3. When prompted, confirm that you want to remove the selected application.

4. Repeat the above procedure for all installed versions of Acrobat and Adobe Reader not required

5. Restart the computer.

Merlin, I don't understand what you mean.

DG, cheers for that but he still gets the same dialogue box -

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is not available.

He is asked if he wishes to remove the program then that is as far as he gets. Strange one this, all stemming from my mother wanting to download a knitting pattern!!

Yes to the uninitiated I suppose it was somewhat difficult... so again in ENGLISH this time....

1/ on your desktop you have an ICON called (my computer) left mouse button, double click it, to open it..

2/ you will then see your hard disk (ICON) if you only have one hard disk only... where your programmes are stored, along with ICONS for your other HARDWARE i.e. DVD/C-D, FLOPPY DISK, SCANNER, etc..

3/ left mouse button double click, the HARD DISK (ICON) it will open to show yellow folders, CHOOSE THE YELLOW FOLDER MARKED (PROGRAMME FILES)....

4/ These are your programme folders, left double click mouse button, this will FOLDER will open and show many YELLOW FOLDERS....

5/ Look for a FOLDER with ADOBE written under it they are in alphabetical order mine is programme one, the first YELLOW FOLDER you will see, if this is the only ADOBE programme you have on your P/C, well just delete it by RIGHT CLICKING MOUSE BUTTON a drop down menu then opens take the option DELETE and delete it........... job done........ close down open page by left clicking the X on the top of the page right corner, then reboot your P-C:P

Note that following Merlin's suggestion will not remove any supporting files held elsewhere on the system, nor will it remove the multitude of settings held in the registry. That's why the Add/Remove Programs feature is there in the first place.

YOU'LL FIND IT GETS RID OF IT........and will not interfere anymore if you need to delete it from the registry type REGEDIT in the RUN facility on your home/start up page, and find it in there and delete it… but NO your don’t need to do this.... it will suffice on the instructions I have already posted...........

Manually deleting stuff from the registry is not something I'd recommend.

PDJ - just as a matter of interest, why does he want to uninstall it in the first place?
