Techy/isp Question!

I am on AOL dial up through my laptop, If I take my laptop to my parents (170 miles away) can I get on the net by plugging my laptop into their phoneline or is that too simple? shrug::

That would be the way dial up would normally work. I seem to remember something odd about AOL dial up when a friend was using it, but I can't see that stopping it from working at your parents.

I am currently using my laptop at my Mum's. She is on broadband so I simply plugged in the network cable and voila ! I was connected without having to change any settings or press any buttons.

Yep I'm away now & shock horror, AOL is working

You can usually get online via dialup from any phone line, and then get your emails using Mail2Web which is a free service

PS How is your mum Aldaniti?? Not bad news I hope
