Terry Biddlecombe

Oh, dear, that's not good news. Will presumably take up a lot of Hen's time now - is he at home or hospitalised, do you know, Michael?

He's in the Stroke ward of the John Radcliffe hospital Krizon. At least there he'll be getting care which is second to none.

Very sorry to hear that. Terry is a legend in all sorts of ways, I hope he can make a good recovery.

Thank you, Michael - as you say, couldn't be in better hands to help with recovery and rehab. Tough time for the yard.

From Hen and Terry's website:

Everything is more upbeat today. He has had a good 24 hours and is able to manage to say a few sentences. He is not very fluent and gets lost for words but it is a lot more encouraging and he has an excellent speech therapist. A good few swear words come out! He will stay in hospital for a while but is overwhelmed by all the messages he has had from well wishers. Thank you all so very much.

Further progress:

TERRY BIDDLECOMBE is likely to be back at his wife Henrietta Knight's Wantage stable by the weekend as he continues to recover after suffering a stroke last Saturday.
Knight visited Biddlecombe, a three-time champion jump jockey during the 1960s, at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Thursday after revealing his sense of humour had not beendented by the ordeal.

Terry Biddlecombe: touched by messages of support

Writing on her website, Knight said: "He had to do a sentence for his attractive female speech therapist yesterday and he said 'I'd like to take you home'.
"Yes, he certainly is a fighter. He surprises the nurses by his determination. The hospital will release him shortly, but I'll need a chain and padlock to keep him quiet at home."
Knight added: "Thanks for all your wonderful messages - I've read them out to him. He is so touched - what an amazing fanclub he has."

I always liked him, but he really made me a big fan when one day, out on a pony near a friend of Terry's, some idiot in a car got too close and pony had a panic. Once I'd managed to get her under control again and calmed down, he shouted across the road, "Well sat, little lass!".

Get well soon Terry. :<3:
