The 2025 Breeders' Cup

Del Mar "workouts" - actually it's more just seeing horses trot and canter rather than fast work on the track but quite interesting for me to watch. 1 hour 20 minutes.

Oh I love the BC - I have been twice to Santa Anita (nearly went through the card in 93 - just missed with Arcangues which ironically I had been watching training in the mornings and thought just how damn well he looked. Stupidly I didn't put him in my Pick 6 and that cost me a ridiculous amount as he was 120-1 IIRC). Also went when the great Zenyatta won the Classic - even came on here as I had seen her training and encouraged the entire forum to mortgage their house to lump on......needless to say I was ignored!

Like I said you have been there and done it 😁

I tried putting a ew Yankee on for fri/sat and betfair has Fridays card on Friday and Saturday.
I went on ladbrokes and they only had 3 of my 4 priced up.
I managed it in the end with bet365.

Exclusive to Talking Horses: Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse's Data Model's Gigantically-Opinionated 100% Book Tissue On Tomorrow Night's Five Breeders' Cup Juvenile Contests (Nota Bene: YFUSA has a love-hate relationship with his USA Data Model. Even though he programmed it himself with all his preferred coefficients, he doesn't always agree with it, but the logical little bastard has an annoying habit of having the last laugh more often than not)....

9.45: 4/6 True Love, 4/1 Brussels & Schwarzenegger, FORGET THE REST.

Anyway - 'nuff of all my whimsical anecdotes or I will be pissing people off on here....

The video I posted above gives you just an idea of how tight the turf course is! Makes Chester look huge!
Overall comments from the videos are that most of the AOB horses are clipped but their coats look "set" and they are not sweating. The other O'Brien horses (J & D) are more sweaty and buzzy.

A few of my thoughts for tonight's races (gone through with the ex who has spent a while going through all the races - he's invariably not as right as me....):

Juvie Turf Sprint
Kicking off with a toughie too. Several I like in here not least the fav True Love. But if you can make a case for her then Lennilu who was third to her at RA and has since won twice including back in the US, the second on turf, would have to have a nice ew shot.
From the video Lennilu looks in great shape. True Love is bigger than I thought while I would prefer Brussels over Mission Central on build. The AOB boys are good but I suspect Soumi is on Brussels rather than TL due to weight (he has to do it on Minnie but I think she is their prime runner the whole meeting). I am not convinced that either AOB colt has his optimum here either.
Military Code is a non-runner
And on form you can't throw out Havana Ana either. Of the other homies, I like Intricate Spirit physically. Schwartzenegger is build like his namesake and probably juiced up as much! No surprises given his trainer.

Juvie Fillies
This will be a paddock pick race, I suspect. Of the ones I have watched Bottle of Rouge and Tommy Jo catch my eye.

Juvie Fillies Turf
Thrown open with the W/D of Precise - gutted as she looked well. Brave Deb looks a decent ew price as she's trained in CA so hasn't had to ship far plus she won on debut at the track. Other than her I can't be confident of anything so another paddock watch. Queen of Hawaii didn't look too bad.

Juvenile
I seriously like Brant on looks and he cost $3m so he's the real deal. My eye kept being drawn to Intrepido on the video too and he's a nice mover. Wasn't so keen on Ted Noffey or Blackout Time in comparison but that's not to say they didn't look ok.

Juvie Turf Mile
Gstaad is going to have to be a damn good horse to overcome stall 14 around the bicycle track and he's quite a big sort. Outfielder who is more used to tighter tracks is built like a brick sh*thouse and although he got beaten by Gstaad last time, he's going to find here more like what he is used to. Third Beer won here on debut and is a big price for an ew although he's got to improve but I liked the way he moved on the video. I also liked Stark Contrast on that basis but he's a big price too.

Jinnyj I have just taken a break from painting the door to have a look at your respected thoughts and I am impressed I will have a tiny bet on some of yours .........and then go back to "DOOR WATCH"

Well I blew out royally there! Brussels broke slower than slow and probably would have won had he not. The others - dear god they went via Tijuana! True Love who looked so well - well Ryan Moore was sorely missed there. The Owen Trained Aspect Island ran well above form to snatch third.

💥Boooom 💥might have to watch the rest now first one up in a multiple 😎

Damn. I was going to back Balantina but she was bucking on the way down to the start and it put me off.
That may have meant she was feeling good! Cracking ride by Oisin there - wasn't exactly entitled to win on form.

Of all the O'Brien family Donacha is made of different stuff.
He has a confidence, movie star looks and can the best out of a horse.
His win on Apache Gold for us 10 years ago at Cork was a thing of beauty.
Like Maureen , this filly jumped off the page at me with Oisin riding.
No bet ,however .
