The 2025 Cesarewitch (Handicap)

Well I was watching on my phone while sitting in the gardens at Hampton Court Palace (getting a bit of culture....😉) so signal wasn’t great and battery was trying to die. But from what I could see, that was quite a ride by Billy the Kid!
I really fancied the horse too and had a bit on him. If I was into laying horses I couldn’t have the favourite just based on his one dimensional stride...I just thought he was vulnerable to something with closing speed.

It was also my only bet of the day...:cheerleader:

Certainly has hit the ground running has Billy. Hope he doesn’t turn out to be a shooting star.
I think he’s exceptionally talented. Today really proved it. Didn’t panic when he ended up right out the back, tracked his biggest danger (which finished second) and had enough to use that speed when needed. The horse used to be trained as a sprinter before Ian Williams acquired him. To get him to settle enough to win this race was some achievement. You’re completely resetting the horses mindset which is very hard.

Yes, it’s not talent I was thinking about, it’s going off the rails as some of them do. He seems very level headed, though.

Hopefully someone will be mentoring him. I was talking to a friend I worked with the other day about our time at Cumanis and the young Dettori. Some interesting comments and stories were exchanged....😉
