Saturday at Leopardstown and Sunday at The Curragh are arguably worthy of two distinct threads - not for the first time, nor the last I'll warrant, what's happening in Irish racing makes the British fare look weak and sickly by way of comparison.

The centrepiece is the Irish Champion Stakes and, suitably galvanised by that Valhalla God of Nordic Black Metal Euronymous, here's the promised thread about it all.

I just can’t see the logic in Delacroix not trying to win both Champion Stakes. It would only take Aidan O’Brien to breathe its name in the winning interview for that 12/1 to lose 10 points.

I completely agree.

Some of the best ante-post bets are obtained by flying a kite and backing horses for races they haven't yet been confirmed for but the logical case for them running in is compelling.

I would say it has long been a feature of betting markets that "it is better to travel than arrive."

Anmaat undoubtedly has the better form, but he is an exposed 7yo.

Zahraan falls into the progressive "could be anything" category, hence the pricing imo.
 
Jim Crowley dying means that Anmaat gets a significant jockey upgrade for the bastard of a track at Leopardstown. Anyone who backed Al Aasy in 2023 can attest to this.

And I wonder could Leopardstown be just what Anmaat wants — travel in behind and come with one clean run on a relatively short run-in. I can see him running a very big race, especially with the rain we’ve been getting.

That's a fair observation - I'm quick to respond to a sudden unexpected softening of the ground because I usually feel I have a direct handle on analysing what's occurred, when the going turns out to be firmer than expected how quick I am to respond to that is a function of how much I trust the source if I'm given that steer before racing has commenced and I've times to look at.

My trust in your French source is on an upward curve in that regard after Sunday.
