The 2025 Old Newton Cup (Handicap)

It's a little-known fact that I once owned a silver mine close to Sporting Lisbon's football stadium, consequently Sportingsilvermine (16/1) catches my eye in this - I wonder if he's running?

Would be interested if the claimer Mason Paetel took the ride (rode him well at Chester latest start).
Unfortunately he is engaged to ride at Beverley on Saturday.

Live weather & going: Haydock Park Going Updates | Haydock Park Racecourse

The weather site is forecasting nothing much in the way of rain until about 35mm of rain overnight Friday into Saturday.

Haydock is another course I associate, rightly or wrongly, with over-watering so I hope they get it right. It's a seriously good card on Saturday and I don't want them to donald-duck it up.

Haydock Park have had a change of CoC in recent years - imo the current one overwatered in his previous role at Exeter and Wincanton and he is the nephew of Andrew Cooper and imo seems to have similar habits to his Uncle.

I thought the BHB/BHA (or whatever they're called now) permitted watering to maintain GDFM ground, so as to put and end to HD.
All I see is them striving for GD, but this often ends up GDsft, or even slower in the case of Chester.
If they strived for GDFM, then a few extra showers wouldn't matter. Obviously this was the initial idea behind the ruling.

No matter who they've employed it must be an upgrade from Kirkland Tellwright. Absolute Charlatan!

Slur ? I have many a horse that's looked like it was auditioning for the never ending story knee deep in the shit he's called gd-sft to back up my claims.

And this morning's. 4mm rain after racing yesterday seems to have had quite an impact. It was dry overnight and forecast to remain so, therefore the bend might dry out a bit again.

If - and with Haydock it might be a big if - it doesn't rain it might dry out again but right now I'd say the going looks like offering nobody any excuses, which is never a bad thing.

Is there any course in the country more susceptible to changing so much with so little rain than Haydock?

You are joking, right, Maurice?

It was a MONTH ago.

On ECLIPSE Day.

Like it ALWAYS is.

You definitely need me as your carer. 😂

The downside of trying to follow things online via a mobile phone rather than laptop (at my age). I saw the going maps and thought Ian had posted them today! I’d thought I’d checked what kind of shite I’d be missing here in Spain and in the back of my mind the only shite I’d be missing was Ian’s posts. At least I was right about that 😂👍

1. I don't post going maps any more than I post links to Simon Rowlands's latest bowel movement - I leave all that to the evidently increasingly-forgetful President of the Turftrax and SR Fan Clubs!

the only shite I’d be missing was Ian’s posts. At least I was right about that 😂👍
2. How f$%^ing rude! 😂

Distance makes the heart grow fonder...

I did think, 'It's not like Ian to post going maps' so thought you were going senile (like me).

I'm genuinely not in the habit of accessing the Internet via my mobile but the signal in the hotel is even more shite than Ian's posts.

And I reckon I'm far enough away for him not to send a vanload of 'associates' to track me down to the Poseidon Palace in Benidorm to duff me up.

1. Definitely - the feeling is mutual.

I did think, 'It's not like Ian to post going maps' so thought you were going senile (like me).
2. You got that bit right - I don't post going maps. I suppose I am on that senile path, but I like to think you've built up an unassailable lead over me!

3. I refer the Honourable Gentleman to my earlier reply - how....f$%^ing....rude!

And I reckon I'm far enough away for him not to send a vanload of 'associates' to track me down to the Poseidon Palace in Benidorm to duff me up.
4. You're safe - "Leafy," his "beards," et al are too busy with thieving bets and other ways of conniving to nick a few quid to be arsed to get on a plane - enjoy the rest of your holiday!
