I will be even more interested than usual in the stick reading this morning.

Draw biases can be great for punters until the market corrects, but CoCs and connections of poorly-drawn runners are obviously not fans.

The CoC might, after racing yesterday, have tried to water the apparent Stands' side bias away - whether that attempt has been made and, if so, whether it's successful or not remains to be seen.

It is forecast to be cloudier and possibly more humid until mid to late afternoon today but just as hot.

Leave the straight course alone has been my mantra for a while now.
Obviously I succumb now then.
Small stakes when I do.
 
Commonwealth Cup - Shadow Of Light 8-1 ew - and that's my only bet at Ascot so far

I'm there today in the Queen Anne Enclosure, my first visit to Ascot and I can't wait! Of course, my picks might change when I get there to watch the betting and pick up more knowledge, but this is what I'm currently going for.

Coo, it ain’t arf ‘ot, mum.

It was a pity that my main bet Jacknife was pulled yesterday and I fear that same might befall Amiloc today if it firms up more by race time. In any event, I’m sticking with a half bet and not adding.
 
That was pants. Both mine (Signora and Bibi) looked weak beforehand physically and although they ran OK, their efforts fizzled out.

Karl Burke just admitted that the winner has been working with older Group horses and going better...... :rolleyes:
 
The winner has won the far side about 10 lengths. The Ascot straight course is a puzzle I'll never solve.
 
That's low numbers have won the first two races.

I wondered if they'd try and water the bias out of the ground from yesterday. Looks like they might have.

I wonder if Barzalona regrets switching from stall 10 to come down the near side 🤔

It's the same every single year. The draw bias flips day to day and everyone does their brains. No one can tell me there is an edge, there isn't one.
 
I tend to largely ignore the draw for those reasons. It can happen at Goodwood too.

And that's another disappointment from the Appleby stable. The Guineas weekend bonanza is becoming a distant memory. I know they're saying the ground was too fast but it seems maybe they're now building up a bank of excuses.
 
Shadow of Light apparently didn't like the ground. I do agree that the watering has had an effect though. I guess after first two days, they have tried to adjust so it's even - only its not.
