The 2025 Stayers' Handicap Hurdle

If the intention is to piss those people off to the point that they can't be arsed to contribute to the forum any more then it's working a treat.
As one of the biggest essay writers on the forum, if it's intention was to piss anyone off I'd have to be a shade of odds on to be a specific target.

But it clearly isn't intended to be anything other than trademark cutting wit, I haven't got an issue with it, I challenge anyone to have had as big a run in with Slim as I had here a while back, we both got over it (if we were ever under it - we weren't, it was water off a duck's back) and I'd say we get along alright.

The fella entertains me here literally every single day of the week, I don't take a word he says personally ever, he's refreshingly opinionated and he's a judge - what's not to like?

I'm just being consistent. I've said down the years that a forum should be no different to a bunch of people sitting in a room. By all means share opinions, agree, disagree, agree to disagree, and some will be more vocal than others but when someone starts insulting others that would my cue either to say it shouldn't happen or to opt to leave the room.

I recently removed myself from my old duffers' club. One guy made a remark to another that I found offensive - in breach of the rules - and said as much and many agreed with me but the guy refused to apologise and nobody would take him on because he is a big noise within the organisation.

I don't need people like that in my life.

You've obviously never been drinking in Ireland. I was at Shelbourne Park one night and one of my good friends, when asked to describe me, said something like, "he's a failed risk manager, a failed gambler and a failed parent." I laughed as hard as they did.

Well we don't hold back when it's family and close friends but it isn't always appropriate to take that kind of 'banter' into other scenarios.

You're entitled to draw the line anywhere you like, Maurice, but if you assume anything you find offensive here is directed specifically at me - and, let's face it, it's 1.01 it always is - you might find the place more tolerable.

Only trying to help!

Me and my friends rip the actual piss out of each other.
Sometimes goes too far, which has resulted in the odd roll around, but back drinking 10 mins later.

Lifes a lot more enjoyable choosing to not be offended by your own reflection.

I regard Ace Of Spades as, very marginally, the most probable winner of an open race.

But I wouldn't put anyone off Ma Shantou, Navajo Andy, Electric Mason, Harrington or Joyeux Machin either - should be a cracker.
You can't beat Your Favourite Uncle Smart Arse's SIX against the field.

For avoidance of doubt, yes, I'm being flippant, and no, I'm NOT claiming a winner.

Great race.

Utterly disgusting that Bowen couldn't switch out anytime over the previous two furlongs.

I’m looking at a long list of Ace Of Spades, Phantomofthepoints, Esprit Du Potier, Electric Mason, Ma Shantou and Horace’s Pearl. Three of those are in the first five of the betting so I can’t dutch them.

What is the phrase? Fvck my luck?

I narrow it down to six and back two, one a total non-trier and the other very badly ridden, and the others finish first, third, fourth and fifth.

Losses are exacerbated by backers of Hartington not collecting. Gutted for you.

I honestly thought wherever Electric Mason finished Ma Shantou would be in front of it hence let it go.
