The six-day entries/confirmations have been made, rabid excitement is both compulsory and mandatory, and, knowing the bunch of Handicap thieves, villains and no-good vagabonds in this neck of the internet woods, the Clipper Handicap is bound to get its share of scrutiny in and among all the Pattern action.

Clipper Ante-Post Betting: https://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/flat/clipper-handicap/winner
Dived in + took 33s ew Northern Express in the Clipper.

O'Meara has took Mirsky out but still has 4 in it.
Tudhope down to ride Leadman who just failed to land me a good profit last Saturday.
Only out of the first 4 once in 12 races and that was at goodwood under Will Buick but had no sort of run.only had 2 runs over a mile and that was on the a/w. Both 2nds.
1 win 7 2nds 3 4ths.
Blue for you D.Nolan.
My clipfolio are
Apiarist 50/1
Blue for you 40/1
Ancient Rome 60/1
Sisyphean 16/1 win only.

Ormolulu in the last.only Hills have a price so far 11/1.i will wait and see if I can get bigger.Connor Beasley rode it the last 3 times but he goes to Newcastle for the racing league.Rob Havlin takes over.

Very boringly, my "Clipfolio," such as it will be, is liable to consist of Leadman (12/1 best), making a quick reappearance after being given enough to do over 7f at Newbury on Saturday, and the jolly Bullet Point, who is only 3/1, but who I'd make about 5/2.

Strong fancy for Dance in the Storm in the closer. She was badly drawn in a handicap against the boys at the Glorious meeting and almost got up to beat Mudbir - she wasn't great from the stalls and was taken to the inside and did not have a trouble free passage - she did really well to finish as close as she did. This race isn't as strong and tbf she's not got the best of draws here either but it's not quite as much of a factor at York. Only bet on the day for me.

If Julia Augusta runs (and he wants her to win!), she blows them away.

Nothing like a bit of misplaced confidence!
I thought that looked the value at 40/1 and backed her and stablemate, same owners, Dukes Command at 100/1 + boost). I actually think Dukes Command may be better with a little ease in the ground, but the only time he encountered it, was withdrawn because of unsuitable ground! I’m thinking he might pick up a race in the Autumn, but would hate to see him win this if I hadn’t at least had something on.

I do agree with Ian’s comments on Bullet Point and Leadman. Bullet Point is too short for me in such a competitive race though, and Leadman looks very dangerous. He wasn’t given the best opportunity to win last time out (to be fair, you couldn’t really blame the jockey as the winner looked certain to fold having pulled so hard early) but this may well be his big target. He races here, in this early closer, off 87, though his OR has now gone up to 92. His July win at Newmarket was a strong piece of form and he is only 4lb higher here.

I will probably back Leadman although there could be a bigger target.
It was last week I wanted him to win.

Have to say after looking it probably needs to win to get in the better races.

A couple each way for tomorrow.

I could see Northern Express being there at the business end in the 3.00. This horse has some serious back-form and the most recent run was half decent. I'm not massively confident but I think he can run well anyway for a sporting bet.

I'm taking a chance of the longshot Cosmic Clarets in the 2.25. Judged on his first starts you might doubt how he see's out six furlongs, but I think there's more to it than meets the eye, and they're getting a feel of him. They upped him to a 90K pot at Naas last time where he ran no sort of race, but I think the fact they ran him in that might indicate, that they think he's better than what he's shown on the track thus far. I doubt Richard Fahey is sending him for fresh air and a day out so I hope he'll run a good race.. A stab in the dark, but he's 40/1, so why not..

Words on Cosmic C from Fahey...

"I’ve stuck a pair of blinkers on him after he never raised a gallop in Ireland last time and he’s absolutely flown in them at home. I hope they have the same effect on the track because on what they do at Musley Bank he’d be the pick of my three but after that run at Naas I can see why Oisin has made the decision he did".

Here are 12 beasts I've been considering for the seven contests on tomorrow's card: Royal Fixation 1.50, Song Of The Clyde 2.25, Anthelia 2.25, Remmooz 3.00, Leadman 3.00, Bullet Point 3.00, Blue For You 3.00, Aeolian 4.10, Rainbow Edge 4.10, Just A Dream 4.45, Dance In The Storm 5.20, Eternal Sunshine 5.20.

KABOOM.

I took 13/2 about Dance in the Storm the other day and thought the price at the time was not over generous.
Best price 5/2 now - what do I know?

In the 5.20 ive already have a decent fancy for Dash of Azure as stated. I hadn't realised Ryan moore was on board and as Frankie did before him he seems to ride like a complete leper when my money is aboard and resume to world class straight after - see Delacroix and Star of mehmas as certain conformation of this pure fact.

At a price in the race Royal Velvet ran a bit flat last time out but wasn't knocked about. His 2 previous performances a clear cut win at Newmarket. Prior to that ran Cracking Gold and Great chieftain very close and that pair went on to Frank the form no end finishing 1st and 2nd in a big handicap at goodwood and GC went on to win again Cracking golds next effort was on ground he wouldn't of appreciated. Given the solid look of his form, Buick in the saddle as he was for his most recent win and a decent draw 20/1 looks more than fair no problem with fast ground either.

Agree with some of the other long shots put up here but again not enough to persuade me into a serious bet the like of Faheys one in those first time blinkers at 50's and Ancient Rome dropped back in trip at a similar price. It'll just be some daft small stakes ew multis on some of these and the ones at Newcastle for me.

Good luck to those having a proper bet today.
