Note the initial use of the word "The" (thus lending the contest gravitas) then the year (think about the children!), then, if it has one, the race's generic historical name, gloriously free of grubby commercial sponsors (we feel no duty to racing to refer to them and are not at home to deifying those who fund racing here, at least I'm not) then the type of race it actually is - ie a Handicap Chase.
None of this is hard, it's not rocket science, at least I thought it wasn't until I restumbled upon this place and met you absolute lazy shower, many of who cba to proof read a single-sentence posting before feverishly posting it. #cantedit #wontedit
However, one digresses this Sunday morning at the dawn of Meteorlogical Spring.
This marvellous contest is a week today at Naas (which is nice), not to be confused with Navan, which the observant will have noticed also begins with an "N" and is also left-handed.
Never visited either, probably never will (my loss, no doubt) but I've always preferred Naas on the telly - Navan looks dour, bleak and unforgiving in its galloping nature, while Naas looks like my sort of provincial gaff track.
I'm probably wrong on both counts, but since then did I worry about trifling matters such as the actual facts? #factsareforlessermortals
39 in this, the weights are out, next stage in midweek and it should be a "pre-Fez" cracker.
Enjoy, you filthy animals!
