I've always thought that the Oaks is the least competitive of the first four Classics, hence a race to give particular attention to.

3yo fillies of Group 1 standard who stay 1m4f are rarer than sightings of Maurice round here in recent months - find one at double-digit odds and you've got a right bet.

The search starts here (that's the lot - bollocks to the St Leger, it's not even worth talking about until after Royal Ascot).

ROMANTIC SYMPHONY 33/1 bred for the job unlike Desert Flower 3rd this year.

Turners British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes (GBB/GBBPlus Race)

(Class 4) (2yo) 1m Row Good

Rowley Mile in use for the first time since 18th May. Far Side Course. GoingStick 6.9 at 6.45am.

RPR assessment: a sound debut for the winner, while the second improved a long way. The fourth guides the level with a small step forward, and the fifth also displayed improvement.

Closing 2f sectional: 23.15 (106.3%); winner 23.05 (106.8%).

ROMANTIC SYMPHONY showed some signs of greenness on debut but did enough when hitting the rising ground to make a winning start which was full of promise. A scopey sister to Yibir and Wild Illusion, who both won at the top level, she'll improve and can go up in trip. Her trainer mooted a return to this C&D for a crack at the Montrose, a Listed race, but with the proviso that she might not want it too testing.

QUOTES: ROMANTIC SYMPHONY has plenty of size about her but is quite raw mentally and this will have brought her on. Billy [Loughnane] has ridden her at home when she was doing all her best work at the finish, so we knew she would hit the line strong. We won't be putting her in a Fillies' Mile or anything like that but she could come back for the Listed Montrose Stakes next month, although she wouldn't want the ground to be too soft - Charlie Appleby, trainer.

I think she has a fantastic dosage for this race albeit DUBAWI offspring have not got a great record in the race I doubt any had the dosage this filly has.

Btw....anyone looking for past winners of the classics........https://www.worldofhorses.co.uk/

Right now, Diamond Necklace is the only filly on my mind for next year's Oaks and the fact she isn't going to the Breeders' Cup pleases me no end.
