Novelista broke his maiden tag today.

He could win a Ceserewitch next season if connections take the plunge.

Edit, he's entered in it this year. Crikey.

He picked up a 4 pound penalty for the Cesarewitch by winning today, but, on my reckoning, that only promotes him three places from 62nd to 59th in the list of weights. The Cesarewitch Trial three weeks ahead of the main race offers good prize money and there are usually only around ten or twelve runners in it. Is Lope De Vega a significant influence for soft or heavy ground as it won't be testing at Newmarket in late September?

The Cesarewitch Trial three weeks ahead of the main race offers good prize money and there are usually only around ten or twelve runners in it. It bleeding well could be testing ground.

Lope De Vega is indeed an influence for soft or heavy ground in the progeny I believe.

While I like Novelista as a horse, and I think he's gutsy, it would be a big ask against the older horses. I'd probably sit it out and see how he does, knowing in my heart of hearts I think he's looks a type to improve with a gelding operation. He was idling in front today and hanging right. He's not totally enjoying it, even allowing for the fact his talent won him the race today.
