The Cesarewitch

I might have been wrong in saying the above. It's a terrific renewal. The weight and ratings ranges are just about right for the race but the inclusion of the French horse adds a bit of extra spice.

From my own item:

Prize money is up substantially for the Cesarewitch this year from £99,000 to £155,000 to the winner . Good on Newmarket and Betfred for once.

It would be excellent if they gave it another big increase next year and owners might start thinking why bother going to Melbourne.

Form was in the book, Manduro mare, out of a dam who started mothering in 1997 and the older the dam more influence for stamina and she's a 10th foal

I was feeling kinda smug having mentioned it in my 'interesting' list but not backing it and seeing it left miles behind.

I suspect it has run its own race at its own pace and the others have burned themselves out. A surprise result on the face of it but the ability was definitely there.

Off the same mark as it's last win. Hardly a huge surprise if a massive price. (120 taken - apologies for the after-timing but can't get the grin off my face - and yes - I did back half a dozen others)

Well done Simmo - would not have even looked at it with 15 picks... We will forgive the aftertiming this once as you haven't form :p

lol - I'm awful for after-timing - largely because everything I put up bombs so I don't put much up anymore. Backed everything in the race that was running off a mark lower or equal to a mark it had previously won off - 6 horses I think.

Now pished!

Good for you, simmo! Well done, especially on getting the big odds.

I wonder what price it was after a furlong?????

Queally another stinker - asking a top weight to go on three out what a surprise it curled up . He really is a moderate jockey.

You really don't like him, do you? :)
The horse lost at Ascot because he took a while to pick up, and damn near lost the Ebor for the same reason. What else was he to do?
For mine, he simply didn't last home in the conditions - nor would he; no matter how he was ridden.
