The Downtime And Slow Connection

I agree completely with your last sentence Warbler. Thank god for the choice offered in the Private Sector.

I'm not totally convinced Jamie, as I've had enough problems accessing the site other than in last week. I think its a case of the British accepting things and refusing to complain. I'd be pretty certain its not a week in 2 years and more like double that at least. To my mind if I'm paying for a 52 week service that's what I expect to receive. 51 weeks isn't acceptable. Other companies can do it. I think I'm right in saying Neigh's hosted in South Africa for example, and to the best of my recollection, hasn't crashed in three years. Cost is obviously factor, and if you think you're getting value at the price fair enough, I've got no idea what these things cost and how much they vary etc
Yep - never a day goes by when I'm catching a train that I thank God for the choice they provide me with (not)

Well God knows what's happened there shrug:: I seem to have quoted BM about something he hasn't said

To be fair to the hosting company Warbler, I've had no problems whatsoever until this past week or two. I've been with them around 2 years now, so a week or two in 2 years isn't so bad considering the paltry fee I pay.

I've been with many a hosting company before this, some even dearer and the service I receieved was shocking. I think it's worth giving these a few extra days to try and iron out the outage problems (Which it appears they have as it's running much smoother) before I take any further action, I owe them that much.

I agree with Jamie, I don't know why you have had problems Warbler but I haven't seen any and I can't recall anyone complaining either. We did go over the bandwidth a couple of times a year or so ago, but i always sorted it pretty quickly (usually under an hour).

In the couple of years I have been with the hosts we have had hardly any downtime that I am aware of. Considering how many emails and msn messages i've had in the past week I'm sure I would remember any prolonged outage cry

It seems to be working ok since they transferred the sites over to a new server yesterday, and I have been checking, i've connected possibly 100 times in the past 18 hours or so and everything seems perfectly ok, so hopefully the problems are now fixed. I did consider setting up a dedicated server for my sites, but its a lot of work (considering i've never done it before), so was giving them to the end of this week to get things sorted.

FWIW people who have been around from the start will remember how bad things were at times with other hosts, like Jamie said, some who charged a lot more than these, for a far inferior service!

Many thanks for all the hard work behind the scene, which I'm sure many of us are apt to take for granted - myself included!

As I posted above, a lot of the problems with outages over the last week or so have been beyond the control of local servers, as they've been caused by outages in the worldwide availability of bandwidth due to problems in California; so let's not apportion blame where it doesn't belong.

Has anyone had any problems over the past 48 hours?
No, all seems to have been OK in the last 24 hrs thanks, Col!
