That must be just about as hard a race as you could find, to fathom the winner of at this stage.

But how on earth is dodge-pot Mr Mole at a mark that means he has to give weight away to all bar Grumeti ?

He won a class 3 Taunton novice Hcp in the mud - admittedly easily - has been rubbish since and now he's running off 150 in a race like this.

and is currently quoted at 14/1

I wouldn't have called second in the Swinton Hurdle exactly rubbish but anyway I've been led to believe he will go novice chasing sooner rather than later.

Incidentally the Pipe horse Dell 'Arca is supposed to be a smart import and I put it in the list of 100 for the TTF competition but had no takers  I would go with Olofi who won it last year again, he's being trained differently these days and has taken to it well.

That's fair enough but a) the winner that day isn't the force of old and b) he should have been first anyway but struck me (again) as the sort of horse who'll do his best to throw the race away.

an I've heard he'll go chasing too - same as Sametegal.

I remember thinking after seeing Mr Mole at HQ in April that I'd never touch it with a bargepole, talking about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Any reason come to light for her poor run in the Mares race at the Festival.

He's not an ante-post proposition but Court Minstrel would carry my money if the ground was decent. Big if.

I like two at decent prices, providing the going is no worse than soft then Thomas Edison looks well priced at 33/1 if he lines up, better horse than his form figures suggest imo and as discussed on another thread trained by one of the best if not the best lb for lb trainers around, think we (Maruco & Co) agreed NTD & Tony Martin in the end....

Soft or worse is ideal for Tanerko Emery, finshing 5th and giving weight to the well in Ted Veale in the County looks solid, good prep behind Raya Star over 2m at Uttox which would be sharp enough for him, not a bean on the exchanges for him though.

I think Dell'Arca is about a 135/140 horse so has a bit in hand here...Martin Pipe has won the first two races..can take this with a very well handicapped animal

I've had a sporting bet on Del Arca too as it happens, EC1. Looking forward to watching what I think is quite a unique handicap hurdle in its own right....not as good as the Tote Trophy like..but a handy race in its own right.

An opinion worth listening too
Good call EC

Just got home from a 3 days of debauchery at York and managed to stay off the horses the whole time.

Got home and saw your post EC.

Well done and a big thanks for paying off the bar bill for me and the wife.
