The Irish Leger

Yeah, and I think this year it would be harsh for the Aussie handicapper to decide that Septimus has shown improved form given what he beat.

I think any winner of a race is at risk of a penalty.

Just got back from a good day at the Curragh.

The handicapper still has the discretion to assess additional weight on Septimus.

Winning a G1 by 13L would suely justify an increase in the weights. The aussie trainers will no doubt be shouting for an increase. It will be interesting to see what happens but if Septimus stays at the same weight for the Melbourne Cup he would look like a good thing.

Septimus was awesome today ..think he would have beaten Yeats by a handy margin if Yeats had shown up today.

The only race I would fancy Yeats to win against Septimus would be the Gold Cup because he is made for it. Everywhere else I would fancy Septimus.

I'd agree with Galileo on his last point. Two very special stayers, just a pity that they'll probably never meet.
