Lots of money today for Nicholls' Ranjaan, though I myself have backed Henderson's Lyvius.

The yard can boss the weights with Petit Robin, and the unexposed Lyvius would cart 10-6 in the event the top-weight runs. There's just a hint of him wanting further than 2m, but the stiff track, Soft ground and likely stout gallop should help compensate. Sporting are out of line with their 12/1, imo.

I've had Claret Cloak pencilled in for this since shortly after he was conceived, fwiw.

Urbain de Sivola has a decision on Ranjaan and whilst he's been disappointing in the main in France over the summer the ground in his defeats has been bottomless and his best form is on slightly less testing conditions.

I'll throw in Double Ross as an e/w contender at around 33/1. He absoloutely slaughtered a very promising horse in Close House first time out and he ran well enough at Haydock next time out. I can only think odds of 33/1 are because they don't think he's a two miler, but I'd argue two of his best runs have been over this trip, second to Cinder And Ashes in January and third to Red Merlin in May in a valuable handicap hurdle. He was noted as hanging right on two occasions in that run against Cinder And Ashes and he could improve a bit around Ascot. I hope Nigel runs him.

Nothing on the lay-side for Darlan on betfair, so suspect he's an NR and will go to Kempton instead.

Unfortunately, there's bugger-all on the Pink side for Lyvius either!

Darlan out, and it's looking likely BG will opt for Cash And Go.
8/1 e.w. with 4 places will do nicely.

Urbain De Sivola has been well placed in France to win decent place money in decent races. For me he's not done much over here to warrant a shout in this race. Personally im a huge fan of Balders Success and if he brushes up on his hurdling he'll be hard to beat.

For anyone who is considering backing Irish raider King of Queens-be careful -he looked likely to refuse last time and only a helping hand from another jockey convinced him to race.

A positive move in the market today for this one.

In the words of shaggy though, it wasn't me.:)

It's a real pin sticker. It's a Gimme is sure to see out the trip in the ground so backing him place only might be the best way to go.

Petite Robin's winning run may come to an end but he travels really well and the ground shouldn't bother him. Every chance he'll go well enough long enough to look like he has a chance of winning and 42 on the machine he looks a decent back to lay.

McGrath claims 5lbs so Lyvius carts 10-1.

I'll take my chances. Not unknown for Hendo to win decent handicaps with claimers.
