The New Doctor Who

I love the way we are getting more of a back story than before. I wonder who destroyed Galifrey...

Ecclestone's a decent serious actor from up north, but is a bit too wooden for a convincing Time Lord as far as I'm concerned.

He of course resigned after the showing of just one episode, which the Beeb aren't too chuffed about as they have already given the go-ahead for a second series and spent millions on merchandising with Ecclestone's image.

I think Ecclestone has made the right choice. The BBC has approached the bloke who's been playing Casenove, who would likely make a much better job of it anyway.

I actually thought Billie Piper was excellent in her role and Episode 2 was much better than the opener.

Isn't that the whole charm of Doctor Who. Its cheesy and wooden. I want alot of things i watch to have their tongue firmly in their cheek like me, things shouldn't be taken so seriously after all its entertainment and escapism. :) :)

Exactly my point. You need a larger than life character to play the Doctor, not one that struggles to be convincing in the part because he is too serious and stolid.

I really enjoyed it but this Doctor is very credulous .Just agreeing to help these aleins without knowing anything about them .

Cracking story too Simon Callow - no surprise there - utterly brilliant as Dickens .

Farting jokes notwithstanding I enjoyed the last episode too - can't wait for the return of the daleks

Enjoyed it tonight but it was rather an absurd ending as if UNIT would just have buffalo as a password .

Looks like Daleks next week
