The next few days…

people not going have access to a queue less toilet, food and drink on tap and comfy chairs in the warm
That's as good a summary as to why I never go any more as I will ever read - controversial view, but I think it's just about the most over-rated racecourse in the country, and that's coming from someone who has had various freebies there over the years. 😂

Can't wait, though - again unlike some, I like the four-day format, brilliant entries in all 28 races and literally every contest is of great interest to me.

I’ve stepped away from horses generally over the last few years, soph likes them but she’s not a pony mad child by any means, and I’ve barely watched any racing since Raisin stopped ( debatable - did he ever start?!) this year is the first time in ages I’ve been watching on tv and got excited for it - not for any one particular horse ( though I’m hoping my friend gets to go with her chap - she’s only been in racing for three years and this will be her first festival runner if they don’t pull him out for the ground) so I’m excited for her, going as stable staff is a completely different experience to going as a racegoer - but as long as they stay as safe as possible, I’m just looking forward to catching quality racing as much as I can. ( I’m a cross country race fan - I like marmite 😆)

Hearing about the poor guy stopped from taking in his hip flask last year really got up my nose.
I do hope the new welcoming experience promised will put an end to that kind of nonsense.
I go to see the racing, not to spend my time queuing for overpriced food. I’ve still not got over having my sandwiches confiscated at Bangor on Dee.

I got chased across Newbury buy a woman who wanted to tell me that they had changed their policy on clothing and while she could see my jeans were very dark and very smart ( I’d bought them the day before and they were black - they didn’t come much smarter!!) when I came back, I would be refused entry if I was wearing jeans.
Saved them the bother 😆

Normally I’m all for things like dress codes, but there was nothing about jeans ( I checked) plus these were really smart! I’d have understood if they were ripped or bleached or any number of the things that are obvious, but a brand new black pair alongside a smart jacket and heeled boots? I’m 90% sure I was far from the scruffiest person there.

Sometimes courses don’t help themselves.
