More likely to overrated on the formbook then a boat. I don't miss reading on X the 'he should go for the Stayers Hurdle' chat everytime a horse fails at a discipline.

It's a division of failed horses.

Im not saying it is but when horses fall short competing at Grd1 level in other disciplines what else would you suggest they do. Keep falling short or attempt to Win a Grd1 in the weakest division ?

Bar Big Bucks I can't name a 'failed horse' that's won a stayers. It's the worst betting angle at Chektenham, along with every failed chaser going for the Ryanair.

What is Bob Olinger if not a failed Chaser ? Yeah you can point to he won a Tuners by default and a few other chases but then why didn't he continue, and ended up reverting to hurdles to Win the Stayers hurdle at 10 years of age.

Just for clarity I didn't say it was a betting angle I was talking as to why it's suggested. If horses are just falling short at top level hurdling over shorter distance or are are decent class staying chaser who either lose there way with with jumping problems or again are falling short at top level then there are worse suggestions than going Staying hurdling. Some will take to it some won't but it's at least worth a try if all else has failed.

I actually think ya betting on Con Hill to get round. His performance of last Christmas is enough to take this.
I dont buy into the New Lion (i dont Jango either, so might not be worth much my opinion)

And Mullins isn’t sending a Champion Hurdler first time over the water. See Mystical Power. I can see Con Hill being around evens (I haven’t checked the pricing, assuming New Lions fav, money will come for Con Hill)

Wish State Man wasn’t fucked. Con Hill wins this, be whatever price ya wanted State Man

Bobbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb! You can't call him a failure! He's fab and won me lots last March!

When we're saying failure it really is only talking at the highest level of Champion Hurdles and Gold cups or maybe even high 150 rated chasers too high for handicaps and not quite graded level chasers. Obviously if a horse is a complete failure he wont be even lining up at Cheltenham.

Bob Olinger is an absolute screw but a proper Grade 1 horse at his best.

As Ted Walsh says, no one sets out to breed a Stayers Hurdle winner.

That's why in terms of quality its always an inferior Grd1 and why you get so many repeat winners as if you get a staying hurdler with a touch of class they can reign for a few years.

There are legion contemporary racing phrases YFUSA cordially detests - commentators saying "lap" instead of "circuit" to name but one - and "division" is another.

At the Hampshire Bloody Assizes last year, Justice YFUSA sentenced three RP "journalists" and a RacingTV "broadcaster" to custodial sentences for using the term.

Horses are NOT footballers, as the observant will readily attest, nor do said four-legged beasts compete in football leagues.

They frequently change race distances and even codes (Flat and Jumps).

Danny will be let off with a community service order as fickle Justice YFUSA has his favourites and Daniel is currently (temporarily) regarded as being in favour, but if Walsworth had said it he'd be off to The Tower before you could say "Hertfordshire."

Just saying.

That's a very valid point and I shall adjust my language going forward skipper and extend my gratitude for the leniency you've shown.

I really want to see C Hill back to somewhere close to his best and the noises coming out of the yard suggest that he is; either that or they’re planning to profit substantially from laying him on the exchange. He could lose here, go out to 12/1 for the Champion Hurdle and still come back and win. I wouldn’t put anything past this operation.

With State Man out for the season it looks like they need to find out where they stand with Anzadam but his rating suggests he has plenty to find and this is his third season hurdling, unlike The New Lion who has come out of his first season with an already higher rating and the prospect of another 10lbs to come. Whether he can cope with the drop back in trip from Cheltenham is another fact-finding mission.

For all that you won’t get much jammier than Golden Ace’s win in the Champion Hurdle, when you adjust her rating for the 7lbs mares’ allowance, she’s joint-second top, is fit and should not be more than eight times the price of Anzadam or 14 times the price of The New Lion. Nemean Lion will probably be ridden to hopefully pick up something better than fifth place prize money.

Except Golden Ace does have to put that last very disappointing run behind her. She looked an absolute picture in the paddock and was bucking before the race with exhuberance but rain like a complete drain. Subsequently scoped dirty on course but back home she was OK. Not sure what to make of that really.
