If you are here for the weekend there's a Season Preview at the racecourse the night before The Open with Paul Nicholls, Alice Plunkett, Sam Twiston Davies and Martin Kelly of ATR on a panel chaired by Richard Hoiles. Tickets available on the racecourse website for £6.

Has the Mandarin bar been demolished? If so there'll be disoriented punters everywhere, like mice turned out of their nest.

Roddy'll be fine in any bar that sells G&T, assuming he can still get his money on with the sly bookie!

Guys - David Parry has two club badges and a twin room in Tewkesbury available for Sat 16th Nov. £100 the lot. Gimme a shout if you want his details.

Anyone coming to Cheltenham races on Sunday from the North note M5 is closed at J9 Tewkesbury down to J11 Cheltenham owing to a serious accident

Just thinking back to the preview night and various statement as I remember them

Paul Nicholls "We don't expect Port Melon to win but it will be good experience for him"

Sam TD "Worried that African Gold will need this, he's a horse that needs his first run usually and one who improves as the season progresses"

Paul Nicholls again "We expected Sametegal to win his 4yo race, which he did, and the plan was always to come here for the Greatwood after. I'm confident but worried about Dell'Arca, the Pipes have not gone for any novice races with him and the fact they are running him in the Greatwood must mean they think he's extremely well handicapped"

Paul Nicholls " I can't believe they (the Pipes) aren't running Dynaste in the PPGC. If they think he will win the Betfred he would have been a certainty here. In view of his withdrawal I wouldn't be surprised now if they gave the Betfred a miss and took him fresh to Kempton for the KG "
