The Willie Mullins thread

This is the sort of news I have come to expect from Mullin's mouth

"Douvan is getting better by the day...no lameness has shown up for weeks. I expect he will do some serious work starting with standing up on Saturday morning and then decide whether to let him try and walk or not" "We are hopeful he will make Cheltenham in time but I can't commit to which year".

If he says nothing he gets panned.

If he says Douvan is on track for Cheltenham and he doesn't make it, he gets panned.

If he says Douvan is doubtful for Cheltenham then he makes it, he gets panned.

That’s what happens when you have the history Mullins has and play “Willie Mullins Bingo” as the boys on the Final Furlong Podcast call it.

There wouldn’t be the same reaction to any other trainer in the above scenarios.

Mullins on Yorkhill.
"I never thought he was a Gold Cup horse. I thought he was a Champion Hurdle horse".

At the stable visit in September, Willie said that he saw Yorkhill as a Champion Hurdle horse but Ruby wanted him in the Gold Cup. At the time Graham Wylie was busy organising a golf tournament but all the indications were that chasing would be the first choice. It's ironic that, had Ruby been fit to ride at Leopardstown, he might have been able to settle him and lasted the trip better.

Yep Willie has always thought he's a Champion Hurdle horse and that's why he convinced Wylie that he'd be better suited by the 2m5f Neptune.

This time round the Ryanair??? na GW trust me he's better at 2 miles.........ok Willie Duh!!!!

Boy is he taking the mickey or what?.........he has UDS but both Douvan and Faugheen could easily miss the Festival so.......you got it

I see Debuchet has joined Willie's stable and has an entry in the Delloitte. His fairly disappointing low key maiden run on what was his last run for Mags earlier this season was also his first since a wind op.

He was summer favourite for the Supreme when with Mags but seems to have been forgotten about and is now available at 33s. That seems too big to me.

There was apparently some confusion on this yesterday on Twitter, Lee - I think it was confirmed he is still with Mags Mullins (not entirely sure, mind, due to the confusion, as I'm easily confused).

Cheers Grass. It really is a sorry state of affairs when info on Twitter can't be trusted 100%

Regardless of who he's with I still think being pushed out to 33s on his first run back, post op was an over reaction. He didn't run that badly and was beaten FTO in bumpers too yet was beaten only by the extremely talented and unfortunate Fayonagh at Cheltenham - Claimantakinforgan one place back - albeit with the juvenile allowance but that's for another thread then I guess.

Sent out 2 would be good things today both finished unplaced..........one in the bumper couldn't raise a gallop and was beaten after a mile.

The Irish punters don't get the Mullins horses that wrong..........something amiss in that yard. Even UDS didn't exactly set the world on fire

You really are an endless source of nonsense. 2 runners is a huge sample size after all.
