Oh God, yes, the eyes......

No, seriously, the guy is absolutely stunning. I don't think I've ever come across a male who is as stunning as he is, he is visually beautiful.

Saw it tonight. Thought (like Ardross) that the socialist thing was a total red herring, and also felt it was far too sympathetic to the anti-treaty side. Hearing one of the women at a meeting talk about Michael Collins being "seduced" in Britain without any attempt to place that accusation in a historical context seriously pissed me off, as did Cillian Murphy's character apparantly losing the ability of rational and intelligent thought halfway through the film.
Exactly Gareth . The way the Four Courts for example was portrayed was as if the IRA was just hanging out there doing nobody any harm when the Free State troops attacked .

Let alone the fact that the biggest push of all behind the pro Treaty was the general desire of the Irish people for peace . There was no sense of the irony for example of Cillian Murphy's character relying on the democratic will of the Dail in his confrontation with the English officer then ignoring it when it voted in favour of the Treaty !

No doubt the de Valera view of " The majority have no right to do wrong " !

Don't be chasing after beautiful men, Dom, it'll only end in tears :P

I finally got to see it. Plus points are the visual beauty of the look and feel, the all round good acting and the presentation of Irishmen as good looking and athletic.

On the other hand it is the most biased, one sided, shallow scripted, simplistic, agenda driven polemic full of one dimensional characters I have ever witnessed.

Clearly. All those shallow one dimensional Irishmen that would be waiting outside the cinema to insult you will love it.

Whaddo I care, as long as they're stereotypically good-looking and athletic?
an capall is not stereo-typical - otherwise he fits the bill.

He also retains me on an annual PR contract.

40 years ago I was working on the Dungeness power station and had to stay on the site in the accomodation huts which consisted of simple plywood sheeted walls with camp beds in.
On the evening of the payday we were kept awake with the noise of the Irish lads betting and drinking all night.
Middle of the night we got furious banging on the door with shouts of " come out yer bastards and fight "
The next morning there was a queue of the Irish lads at the pay office waiting for a sub to see them through until the next pay day.

We got out of there quickly and spent a day searching for digs along the coast, we didn't find any until we reached Folkestone because without exception, none of the guest house would have us because they thought we were Irish, one actually said " no, all you lot think of are greyhounds, patatoes and shagging "

There were a few who were the complete opposite and were there to work every hour they could and get enough to go back and buy a smallholding back home but, I never did see a good looking athletic one though AC :P
