I know that many on here are of a 'certain age' and, for myself, I seem to spend a lot of time remembering (and shuddering to be fair) the time gone by, the world of my younger self.

Here is Joni Mitchell performing 'Both Sides Now in 1969', when she was 26.

I'm a tad too young to remember her at the time but my Mom was a huge fan she had the album Blue on Vinyl which I borrowed and wore out, Carey and Case of you we're my favourites and River is still the only Christmas song in existence that I can tolerate.

It would help somewhat if the money-grubbing commercial interests weren't giving us full-blown Christmas in October lol.

If I'm honest, I've always been a sucker for "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day", mostly on account of Mr happy, Roy Wood, shouting out "Come on you lot" before the kids start to sing. I'm such a softy, I love to hear their voices.

Another thing is, I love the complexity of the song: not bad for a Christmas ditty.

'The Last Time I saw Richard' is a cracker too.

Great Xmas song
I don't think I've ever heard that, you know. He's an original talent, isn't he, Ian Anderson? Not the usual Christmas tripe, is it. And, to be honest, it's the solstice that does it for me rather than the nativity.

Owes an awful lot to Martin Barre and his superb guitar playing. Bit of a control freak, Anderson. Saw them at Mothers in the late sixties/ early seventies ( or, at least I would have seen them if someone much taller than me wasn’t standing in front of me as per usual). Been a few programmes about them on Sky Arts recently.

Dave Pegg was in the band at one time, too, which I hadn’t realised. I’ve just listened to a fascinating interview with John Kirkpatrick on the Folk on Foot podcast. He’s another musician that I’d never heard of before but has been in just about all of my favourite bands. They get around a bit these folkie people.

Blue - one of my top 3 albums (My old man❤️)

Hahahaha!
Probably my favourite Christmas film and the Christmas song I hate the most.
Well done Mrs Bailey/Donna Reed!

Joni Mitchell reminds me of my Sunday nights out in the Salutation Hotel in Kinross watching Rab Noaked Archie Fisher and Barbara Dickson who often sang Joni Mitchell songs must have been very early 80's
