Last nights finale was astonishingly brilliant televsion. This was drama of the absolute highest class. shifting from laughter to very moving scenes in an instant your emotions were all over the place

Shane Meadows is the best director this country has produced in years. he uses the camera superbly but at the same time develops wonderful characters and can execute the ost touching of scenes. He is quite brilliant imo

Even with the very best of the Wire and Sopranos i do not recall simply sitting there for a good half hour simply absorbing what i had just seen

Has to be grabbed on dvd by anyone who missed this

I missed it, but love his films (Somerstown and possibly Once Upon A Time in the Midlands apart).

DVD is a good shout.

Always been a huge fan myself and seen all of his stuff, but believe me, this (especially last night) is a real step forward

I must admit, one of the reasons I didn't watch is because I feared Thomas Turgoose get on my nerves. I'll give it a go then. Cheers.

Went out and bought the film after watching the first episode [I'd seen the second half of the film a few weeks ago and wasn't all that impressed at the time]. Now want to see all of his films. Having said that, I must admit to not enjoying the last episode as much as I expected to [if 'enjoy' is the correct word], but was bowled over by the third episode. It's a long time since I really looked forward to seeing a programme, so perhaps there was a sense of anti climax about it. However, now it's over I miss the characters; imo a good film/series has you really caring about what happens to the people in it as if they were for real. I'd recommend 'The Scouting Book for Boys' as well. Not Shane Meadows but of that genre.
