Good morning.

It was good to get a winner yesterday from my two bets. Santorini had read my script and delivered the desired outcome in comfortable style. Yesterday's watching was good, too, for providing a little ammo for the future so happy days.

Today I shall focus on the Clipper with a couple of noted horses involved:

Urban Lion - 3.00 York 14/1 Ew 5 places
The note I made after his Hunt Cup run:

What a good run this was. He was going quite nicely, thank you, before being checked out of his stride on the far rail. But for that he might well have won. This could be a Golden Miler.

It's clear that this must be my choice today, given the above.

I should say, too that I have a second horse that I've backed ante post (unusually for me):

Apiarist - 3.00 York 50/1 Ew ante post 4 places

My note, after his Ascot Buckingham Palace handicap run:

This one just keeps on improving. The race he ran here proved that. I think this 4yo is worth following.

Last time out he was fourth at Galway, a notoriously difficult track to negotiate in those big field handicaps. I wasn't surprised he failed to win that day after 'meeting trouble'. Hmm.

There are a few that I'll be dabbling with but more out of sport than with any great gusto.

I do have a sneaky fancy for one at Lingfield. (Girl Of Gold 3.45). Those who have read my blogs will know that I have a long-standing distaste for the all weather and class five or six AW races particularly. This fancy, then, is distinctly unusual but I have my reasons.

Firstly, it's a staying race, which I do have a penchant for. Secondly, the race, even given its class six status is, dare I say, of very low quality (piss poor some might say, more informally) and will take little winning. Well, she's had three runs in flat maiden company and has beaten only one horse home in those: hardly inspiring, eh? It should be noted, though, that she's a Golden Horn and wouldn't have been suited by the 8f,10f and 11f respectively on the flat. This 2m is much more the thing. She's lodged right down the bottom in the weights in her first handicap, Owen's stable is in good nick and GOG is visored first time. So much writing for such a poor race, haha. This, naturally, cannot be a strong bet at all but I'll have a smidgeon on and watch with interest. I Thought I'd mention it.

Elsewhere, for fun, I'll be doing a little on these:

Centara 4.24 Newton Abbot 5/2
Timmy Tuesday - 6.07 Killarney 4/1
Little Win Double

Coastguard Station - 4.25 Newton Abbot 13/2
Little Ew

Here's hoping my Clipper runners give a good account of themselves, eh?

Good luck

I welcome that in preference to daytime gambles, which rarely are a good sign for my selections.

Bigger the price the better lol. Goldfish? Shark!

And that's why I'm not all that good at racing: so close to being right but in the end am wrong.
