Good morning.

There were no bets for me yesterday; I thought the Goodwood card looked like a wallet rinser to me and I was glad to stay away.

Today I have a couple worth backing. If I was to have one bet today it would be:

Stormy Impact – Wolverhampton 7.15 9/1 Ew 4 places.

Yes, it’s the filly’s AW debut but I won’t be put off this. After her win in Epsom’s ‘The Dash’, she was entered up at Royal Ascot in a much better race and I think she showed a marked improvement for, although he finished down the field, she ran an excellent race, making some late headway. Her next run, last time out, pitched her against older horses and she showed, again, a notable improvement, not having the best of runs but sticking on nicely. I do like to see 3yo’s carry weight against older horses and show well.

Up in distance, yes, but my notes remark that: “The breeding heavily suggests that further should be no problem and probably needed.” This race is certainly not easy but I wouldn’t be put off Stormy Impact today in any way. 9/1 for four places looks a cracking bet, I think.

Next is, indeed, a 3yo who ran against older horses last time out and acquitted himself very well indeed:

Parole D’oro – Goodwood 1.20 9/1 5 places

In fact, I was sore that day because I thought he looked like he should have won. Today he’s back against his own age group, has a nice draw in the 2 box and has Mr Moore aboard. Lightly raced and improving, 9/1 looks like a very nice price and I’m on.

2 x singles
Ew Double

Elsewhere I think Chillhi (Notttingham 4.40) looks like he’ll go on now he’s got his head in front and they’ve found the right distance. I could’ve got 7/4 last night but waited til this morning to see if he’d drift: wrong move; he’s now 10/11. However, I do think he’ll win so I’ll be doubling him up with Londonofficecalling (Wolverhampton 6.45 ) at 3/1. This price is generous, in my opinion.

Win Double

Lastly, Gold Dancer (2.10 Galway), another that I didn’t back last night because I hoped for a drift. Not to be: 9/1 this morning whereas he was nearer 20/1. Still, 9/1 still looks decent enough for me to try a little Ew pop and I mean ‘little’

Good luck

Well, that was anther good day for me. I'm so pleased Stormy Impact delivered because she was my strongest fancy all season, along with Scandinavia on Tuesday. As we know only too well, it rarely pans out like that.

Pleasing, too, to see my little ew on Gold Dancer come in. I just wish I'd taken the 18/1 the night before. Typical punter.

Finally, I was completely baffled by Ryan's ride on Parole D'oro. If anyone has a view on that subject, I'd love to read it.

Well done, Yorick.
You sounded confident too. I wanted to take a closer look when I read your post yesterday, but I'm so bogged down at the moment I never got around to it.

My old bones never countenance confidence, mate, but I knew she had to be done, if you know what I mean.

Happy days. Lucky old me me, as I'm like to say.

:)
