Timeform Free Comments

Don't tend to take much of heed of Spotlight comments etc. but have noticed the Timeform Free comments on Betfair/ATR site with star ratings/verdicts.

My question is are these written by Timeform writers and do the star ratings correspond at all Timeform ratings for the particular race?

The comments are compiled by Timeform writers yes. The stars and race verdict aim to be more race specific than the ratings that are published with the normal card, but equally the ratings on the normal card are looked at at the declaration stage to prevent out of form horses appearing to be given a greater chance than they should be.

The writers of the comments that appear on the websites of betfair and ATR use other timeform products, chiefly perspective and the balck-book style comments when compiling them so it would be most unlikely that they would contradict them. In essence, it is still the 'Timeform View' just made available in a less sophisticated style with the aim of introducing potential customers to betfair's horseracing products to the concept of form and analysis.
