Today's Curragh G1s

Great stuff as always, Maurice.

I'm not getting too involved, but I was a big White Birch fan last year, I really didn't think he had a hard race on his reappearance and I could see him reversing the form this time.

I can't have Lake Victoria at the odds and I think Swelter and Flight are fairly priced to turn her over.

Cracking racing at Longchamp too.

I thought Topgear (and I detest Jeremy Clarkson 😂) put in a cracking performance at Newmarket last year, Sosie seems short enough at that trip and Horizon Dore could pop up in a race like that at some stage plus Sevennas Knight has done me legion favours round Longchamp at that trip.

Superb day's action - in other countries! 😂

Topgear is an absolute brute of a horse, I actually had him delivering one of the best performances in Europe of the season in the Challenge Stakes last year, his jockey judges the fractions on him well and they didn't see which way he went there.

I organised getting just over 5/2 and that's (almost! 😂) paid for all my other bets this afternoon already!

I don't think White Birch is even related to a Group 1 horse. He was in and out as a 3yo and I think his reputation is based on beating Auguste Rodin in this race last year.Rodin was weak in the betting that day and I think the form is misleading.Everyone I know is in the fan club but I will be taking him on today.

Game of opinions, Luke, and it would be boring if we all agreed all the time.

White Birch beat standard (how reliable that standard is, I am unsure tbh) by almost a second last year, with some fair sorts beaten out of sight, so the form will do for me, but I know a fair few people who thought it was all down to one of Auguste Rodin's (numerous) off days.

Fair dos. Hearing the other point of view prevents me getting carried away!

If ever a juvenile had a 2yo pedigree it's Albert Einstein in my book.

Won snugly in the end and no doubt would have a cracking chance in the Coventry, but I'll be surprised if he develops into a 2026 2,000 Guineas contender.

Sosie has developed into some 4yo.

Winner of the Grand Prix De Paris and fourth in the Arc, he's dropped in trip to win the Ganay and dropped again to win the D'Ispahan.

Great to see Porta Fortuna returning with a win at The Curragh too - shame neither were my price! 😂

Cracking race and the winner is very game - ditto the runner up.

Have to say if Colin Keane had ridden Field Of Gold yesterday the way he just rode White Birch, he might have joined Kieren Shoemark in the Gosden doghouse! 😂

I'm not saying White Birch would have won, but he never really got a clear run and, for me, he's better than the bare result suggests.

Just caught the race but I reckon White Birch is some way better than the form.

I couldn't say with any certainty that he'd have won with a smooth run through but it's what I think.

Edit - you were posting as I was typing, Ian.

I'd say the best filly (Lake Victoria) won, but Ryan Moore has made it even easier for her by having her in the exact right place for the pace every step of the way (as he so often does).

Andab is a full brother to her and I'd say the Marble Hill Stakes third earlier on has a bright future.

That was pretty nice from Lake Victoria there. Looked to me like she quickened twice, first to challenge and then when she hit the front. Not many can do that.

Poor run by Swelter, checked out tamely.

Kalpana is the one to take out of the race.

White Birch could be the Arc horse especially on easier going.
Los Angeles drifted from 7/4 to 11/4 on course; after Porta Fortuna went odds against in the previous race there must be no punters left, not that I was ever one.
