These are the recent winners of today's opening race at the Curragh. Does anyone know of a maiden with a better roll of honour?

1979 and 1980 it was called the Kris Plate and won by Henbit and Shergar. There's evidence that it was an ordinary maiden then but it may have changed when the sponsors took over in 1981. Certainly Rainbow Quest wasn't a maiden when he won in 1983. As a conditions race, it appears to have as a condition that runners are still a maiden at a qualifying date about a month before the race.
In any case, it still wouldn't have quite the strength over 13 years as in the Curragh race although it's tempting to think that the race owes its retrospective strength to being the Ballydoyle race of choice for their earlyish 2yos.
 
Weird name (latin) obviously thought up by Jim Bolger him being a very religious person

Spa Water or something would have been easier on the tongue.

Nice horse but wouldn't go overboard about the winner. The horse to take out of the race (mark your cards) Kitten Loves Roses
