A couple of weeks ago I uploaded these top lists that I made up for youtube. There's a lot of races featured that many of you probably haven't seen for quite a while so I thaught I'd link them here. I got into racing in 1989 so all the countdowns only feature races from then onwards. I'm sure many will disagree with the order that I've placed the horses in each list but at least you get to see some great races from the past! :)

It's excellent stuff, Arazi, and very professionally put together. Thanks for posting the link(s).

Top 10 Countdowns? Dunno about 10, but my favourite is where they both spell WANKER and Richard Whiteley says 'We've got a pair of wankers'

I just watched the stayers, it's great stuff, and I look forward to the rest of them.

Great stuff! Still can't believe Galileo didn't win that Champion Stakes....

"and as they settle down to fight it out, I'll use a cliche to buy me some time and figure out what the hell is going on"

I have worked through most of them now. I agree with nearly all your rankings, apart from the Oaks ones, but it is really enjoyable viewing.

It is amazing looking at past Oaks and seeing what the winners' (and placed horses') progeny have done.

Well, agreeing with nearly all the rankings is good enough for me!

When I finished all of the lists, the only decisions that I felt I definitely got right were - Dayjur as no.1 European sprinter, Dubai millenium as best Prince of Wales's winner and Yeats as best stayer. Couldn't really see anyone arguing with those three.

The rest of my choices are all very debatable but I don't think they're any really shockingly bad placings in amongst them.

Where the hell was Top Cees? Balls to winning Ascot Gold Cups, a Ces and a Coral Cup is where it was at.

Yeah, forgot all about Top Cees. Then again, if I had included him I would have had to include Trainglot as well because he also achieved the Illustrious Ces/Coral cup double!

I only had room for 10 so unfortunately those two superstars both missed the cut!

Trainglot kicks Top Cees' ass.

Fantastic stuff Arazi! Thanks for sharing.

Having watched most of them my only real qualm would be the omission of the 2003 Irish Derby (Alamshar).

Not so much top 10. But the show reel of career highlights of Canford Cliffs, introduced by Brough Scott on the RP site, is worth a look.

The only one I hadn't looked at was the QE2 winners. Excellent selection, but I am not sure about your number 1 here.

What I am sure about is that Jim McGrath loves using "careering away" as much in this race as any other Group 1.
