Is there anyway of tracing a deceased company director to find out what business it was?

I've been dabbling with the old family history & I have found my partners Grandfather who disapeared years ago,

He died in 1989 & I have his address, it states he was a company director but does not say what type of company etc

My cousin's very heavily into family research, Aldaniti, and I'll ask how she's found out so much about 'our lot', going way back, and on very slender leads. I'll see what the next step is that she can suggest for you - I'm sure there'll be a way. I'll PM you with the results.

If you trace through CH, the type of business that he was a director of will be under only the vaguest of headings. And often inaccurate too

Clivex, the cousin who's doing masses of family research has found out some very strange anomalies. One relative's Death Certificate read his employ as 'coal merchant' when he'd been in the family drapery business all his life, others had wrong home addresses and there were even doubts as to whether some of them had married - they seemed to be married on census reports, but when they died they were classed as 'spinsters'. Perhaps it was the long hours the clerks spent, scratching away in Dickensian candlelight, that caused fatigue and mistakes to set in!

Thanks for the message Krizon!

Sorry for the late reply, mixture of illness & a crap internet connection!!!!
