Tragedy at Sandown and Aintree - reflected upon by Michael Elders

nice piece that

you touch upon a topic we have discussed lots here re those who want NH racing banned because its cruel to horses. People who call for it being banned are probably the types that drive past a field of unkempt and neglected horses in the winter and not give them a second thought or bother to object to it..but then get all indignant when a well looked after racehorse unfortunately loses its life.

If we are to look at the treatment of horses as a whole..i would think NH hunt racing comes out top for care & comfort & love by those who train them and own them ...and those who leave horses in fields unkempt, uncared for, at the bottom..strange how all the fuss is made about the most cared for.

Ragged, starving horses/ponies in field with mud fever and rain scald don't make headlines I'm afraid.
