When I watch a DVD or video I find the sounds from my terrestrial channels bleeds through to the AV channel.
Does anyone know why this is and what I could do to stop it?

Sounds like the TV is transmitting the TV signal out through the AV socket you're using, as well as taking the DVD players signal in. Quickest way to check is to set the TV to a channel where no station is tuned in, and then switch to the DVD player - the interference should disappear, or at least be greatly reduced.

Longer term, you need to either see if your TV setup allows you to turn off this feature, or use a different AV socket, or use a SCART lead which only carries the signal one way.
