Twitter Rumour re Davy Russell anyone know if true ?

Look at his ride and effort on Trifolium the other day, dreadful.

I never rated him but he is worse than he was - Townend would be a huge improvement. Cooper but end up very good but has more to prove than Townend (hasn't been riding at this level for as long).

Townend would be a great choice if he was willing to leave the Mullins yard, Jason Maguire the other name being thrown around.

Talk also of having no No1 and using the stable lead jockey but I cant see how that could work out and would cause more harm than good.

Is he even that good? your every day man walking down the street could win a Grade 1 on Solwhit with about 6 weeks riding lessons

Thought he did well by taking a pull on trifolium myself, in a race where both the front two went off too hard. Finished one place better than he should have done on known form. Im sure there are worse examples.

For f**k sake stop talking shite

Well said lad, every time I think that frog can't possibly make a bigger fool of himself he posts again and proves me wrong - although I think at this stage its quite clear its a very poor effort at trolling and just best to ignore!

After CF made his mistake, he waited way too long to ride Trifolium to get him to Defy Logic - he sat there doing nothing until after the bend.

Maybe. Dont think he was gaining from the last either though. Think the only way he was going to win was for the pace to collapse. It didnt to the extent required. Dont think the ride cost the horse the race or was in any way dodgy (not that you suggested that). Im sure he has ridden stinkers.

Given Ryanair's attitude with the "cup of tea" rule with delayed flights Davy must have known something was amiss when invited for a "cup of Tea".
Seven year itch a problem in all life cycles it seems.
Davy an outstanding horseman and jockey, ultra competitive so all the best to him in future.

Second that !
As well as the above, he's also a very "giving" fella down around these parts with his time and efforts; always available for various charitable causes and fundraisers, donkey derbies, fun nights etc.
I wish him well in his career.

Davy riding a donkey through the streets of Youghal a couple of months ago in a fundraiser for the town. (Apologies for poor pic quality -- had a few pints taken at that stage). :o

(Hmmm. Who is the other jockey?) :)

I'm not surprised. If you look at their trainers and the jocks they use its understandable. Ruby coming back in particular would have changed things as Gigginstown have put more horses into the Mullins yard. I expect Russell to still pick up plenty of rides for them.

Have they said if they are going to appoint a retained jock?
