Here are my bets for the UK's all-weather races today. Initial selections are from the Kempton meeting. There may be more to follow later.

Note, the point of writing up these selections is always to illustrate which horses are carrying my personal bets. And those bets are always derived/determined from the processes outlined in the book: UK All-Weather Racing: A Specialist's Guide to Finding Value on

4:37 KEMPTON Handicap (GBBplus Race) (0-95) (3) 4yo+. 1m 3f 219y 9 runners.

WHITCOMBE ROCKSTAR
is an Exposed 7 year old gelding who’s a course winner. He’s proven his ability to be competitive in class 2 races and he drops into class 3 race today.

He’s a Kempton winner so no concerns about the track or surface and he’s facing weaker competition today. He running slightly further today which should be manageable but not proven.

He ran 33 days ago at Kempton (A.W) in a Class 2 over 11 furlongs, finishing 1st winning by 0.20 lengths. He’s well handicapped as his highest winning mark is 92 and is off 88 today.

His trainer Kieran Burke has a very good record at the course having had 11 winners from 44 races for a 25% win strike rate.

NOLTON CROSS
. Is an in form 7 year old gelding who’s a distance winner. He last won 24 days ago and had 1 race since. That race was 9 days ago at Lingfield in a Class 2 over 12 furlongs, where he finished 4th beaten by 1.35 lengths.

He’s another one who’s dropping into a Class 3 where he’s owing 3 times from 5 attempts. He’s quite well handicapped as his highest winning mark is 89 and he is off 92 today.

Nolton Cross looks well placed here. Back to his best on AW after a remarkable return, proven at this class and distance, and the going and track are suitable.

I feel he’s over priced and looks ready to run a big race.

There are obviously dangers especially when you see trainers like Balding and Haggas with runners in handicaps. The market normal reacts to their runners and prices shorten. That for me leaves an opportunity to find some value.

6.00 Wolverhampton – Handicap1m 142y Class 5 (0–75)

FRANCESI is an in form 7 year old gelding. He recently won LTO at Newcastle over a mile and he looked to have something in hand. His FSP% backs it up as well.

His run at Newcastle on 10/2/26 where he finished 2nd was for me the best bit of form ion evidence for this race.

Although, Francesi has won at Wolverhampton in 10 attempts he’s been placed 7 times. He’s been knocking on the door all winter and I backed him LTO when he finally won at Newcastle in a higher grade.

Before that he’d gone close twice over a mile, shaping like a horse who just needed the run to fall right. This is slightly further tonight but he’s got the stamina based on his finishing speed up hill at Newcastle.

A real big bonus tonight is the 7lb claim. In a 0–75, that effectively drops him into a much softer spot than the bare mark suggests. He’s well drawn in stall 3 so he should be able to secure a position just off the early speed. Based on his recent performance I think he will take it up from just off the bend when the front end pace start to slow.

This is certainly a weaker race that is lacking depth and with him already running well and beating stronger opponents I see he can win this. I feel his price is too big.
