Venere.com

I never had any problem with them, booking some holidays in Italy. In fairness, i think that they are only a portal, or maybe a central web location to various hotels. If there is something wrong with your hotel, it would probably be teh hotel themselves that you take it up with. From Venere.com though, you can find links to the individual hotels that you are interested in booking, and contact them directly that way.

Cheers Garney. My understanding is also that they are agents for hotels. You get a confirmed reservation through them but pay the hotel at the end of your stay. My only concern is that they take your credit card number as security. I tend to use a different credit card for travel so any bogus purchases should be easily spotted as I'm one of those boring sorts who checks bank and credit card statements.

I have used a similar company - http://www.hotelclub.net - on a number of occasions in the past. They operate in exactly the same way and everything has always been satisfactory. I had booked through them three times, I think, before I found out that they were in Australia!
