Walsh Nicholls out

You assume that Noel would want the job! I'm not sure it's such a prize these days and nobody knows how easy Nichols is to work for. Christian Williams or Sam Thomas might advise.

Gobsmacked but after reading what they both had to say it's understandable. I don't know but I assume Ruby will turn to training one day and to ensure the transition runs smoothly perhaps that's another reason he's parted company with PN. Most jockeys actually train their first winner/s before they actually take a licence out.

Never forget the Kauto Star Ruby partnership, the pair gave me some of the happiest days I ever had as a punter as I'm sure it did many others on here.

As has been pointed out it won't do much for Paul Townsend's career and it won't be great news to Davy Russell's ears either.

Can't see PT going over to ride for PN as Daryl Jacob is one helluva good pilot and with new the opportunities this change brings he'll get even better all being well.

No doubt he'll still spend time riding in the UK but if DJ is doing well as first jockey I doubt if he'll be jocked off all the Ditchet Saturday good things. That would be terribly unfair of PN ........If the owners ask specifically for Ruby that's one thing but if DJ is first jockey PN should and probably will stand by him IMO

According to P Nicholls in his book Ruby took no retainer or expenses, the % from big pots being enough for him along with the freedom to ride for WP Mullins also.
Any retainer from say Mr Ricci may see Ruby as well if not better off for the future imo.

Harry (Derham) will get more rides especially on the big Saturdays when PN has horses at two or three courses and Noel Fehily still wouldn't be out of the picture either I imagine.

I think who gets the ride on Big Bucks, assuming he regains fitness of course, will be the most interesting.
