So, the latest scandal regarding the Royal Family is that Prince Charles is a rascist who calls his asian friend Sooty.
The tiny fact that this is a nickname that this guy is known by, and often referred to by many of his friends which he is quite happy with, appears to be wholly irrelevant in this case.
The man in question, Mr Kolin Dhillon, was quoted on the BBC website as saying :
So what is it all about? I have a friend who is universally known as The Fat Man - and he's quite happy with it. Likewise I've known scores of people over the years with nicknames that mock their height (or lack of!), weight, hair colour, whatever - who are quite happy with it. I've had nicknames too that I've had no problem with - that's just life.
But no, the Nanny State wants to gag most people as much as they are possible, it seems. A Labour MP has said that even though Mr Dhillon doesn't object to the nickname, that's 'not the point' and it is still unacceptable. To whom??
Political correctness gone so mad it requires a straight jacket.

"I have to say that you know you have arrived when you acquire a nickname.
"I enjoy being called Sooty by my friends who I am sure universally use the name as a term of affection with no offence meant or felt.
