Whale In The Thames

Unfortunately the Whale has died on the barge, just shy of where they were hoping to release him. Poor thing, well done to all of the people helping to rescue this beautiful creature, everyone did a smashing job. Just awful it had a terrible outcome. No one will ever forget the sight of such a glorious beast.

Make a nice sarnie though with a splash of mayo. :shy:

Seriously its a great shame, i was glued to the tele when i heard about it.

A great shame - I really feel for those who have tried so very hard to put a bad situation right. Although I realise they had to try something, large mammals are invariably very distressed by anything unfamilar like this so I guess death was inevitable. It would have put an enormous ammount of strain on his heart to be immobilised for such a long time. It is the same when putting large animals under a general anaesethic.

I was abroad and knew nothing of this tragedy. I got home this evening, turned on the Sky News and heard the rostered bimbo suggest to an on site commentator "that we all hoped he might live and become an Ambassador for...."

I didn't stay for the rest of the story. What was he to become an Ambassador to? Japan?

I hope the other one, somewhere off Sarfend, is doing okay. A huge shame to have lost this charming creature, but perhaps its disorientation was already a sign of it being unwell. I noticed that when it was swimming, it was breathing very rapidly - very quick blows through the blowhole, instead of the much more leisurely ones associated with those out at sea. Perhaps it had a respiratory problem, or just got far too stressed by getting lost?

AC: yes. A narwhal has already accepted the Ambassadorship for Norway.

As Bobbyjo has been dead for several years, I reckon he'd be low on conversation topics although is probably more intelligent than Chantelle and less disfigured than Pete Burns

However, I would imagine that the stench would be too much and therefore the whale gets the nod

Considering his advanced state of decomposition that could be an excuse for the rancid nature of many of his postings :D

Anyone see Lorraine Kelly on This Morning going on about how the whale was "almost like an Emissary" and the stark symbolism of it swimming by the Houses of Parliament, almost as if campaigning for its species...

Jugding by the contents of the red circle in that photo he would seem to have died at least half happy.
