What are you backing Today? Part 2

A bit of kite-flying from me today for little stakes, as ever:

Roe and Co - Ffos Las 2.05 3/1

The favourite is Mini Fortune, which says everything, really; an 8yo maiden under rules, he's once again at the bottom of the weights in a Cl 5 handicap: hardly unexposed. I wouldn't be that sure that 2nd fav, Imperial Measure will be needing the trip, either.

All in all, it's a weak old heat, isn't it and looks just the type of race where a new chaser can figure. I've taken the hint for R&C since he's a very lightly-raced 7yo with only 3 races under rules in total. The breeding screams 3m chaser and despite top weight, he can put in a big run here. Only 3/1 but in light of the opposition, even that looks value. The stables in good nick, too: 3 winners from the last 6 runs. This is the gelding's first chase and first handicap. That'll do for me.

That's my bet of the day and I'll double it with Jet Legs in the 3.07 Carlisle. I like the profile of this one's form in the context of this race. Strictly speaking, on one run Your Own Story should beat him yet, on other runs, he'd be bang in here with a chance. I suppose inconsistent might be the appropriate epithet here but I'm hoping for one of his better efforts today. 5/1 looks worth a pop for the double. However, that's just a little side-line; R&C is the bet.

I Like 4 x EW Trebles

12.55 Turffontein ( SA )
Arizona Mark ... 9/2
Gavius Maximus .... 5/1
x
1.45 Brighton ( 4 Places )
Fai Fai ... 4/1
x
3.15 Ffos Las
Minella Mania 7/1
Elusive Knight 8/1

Skybet the only firm Paying 4 Places on the 1.45

I'd like to see Roe & Co running with a lot more give & Jet Legs lost nothing in defeat today (took the 2nd last home too for good measure).

Hiya.

Thanks for the comments, mate.

You may well be right about him preferring softer ground; both the sire and grand sire suggest this. Did you notice the size of him? It may be he'll turn out to be a proper soft ground stayer over marathon trips. Let's not forget, though, that this was a poor race so best not to care too much but to keep an eye on him when conditions suit, going and distance-wise.

What a race Jet Legs' was, eh? fantastic and what NH is all about. He jumped and stuck on well, didn't he. With the Todhunter stable not really firing, too.

No complaints from me with my two.

Thanks again for posting. (y)

I was looking at maybe "She's on the Ball" but I think I'll take your suggestion & have an e/way bet on "Hearts Beats True"
The odds seem to be 18/1 with Bet Fred.

3.32 Uttoxeter
Lookaway has been a cliff horse for me but he looks plenty short enough here (although on the drift) and returns after nearly a year off. He didn’t really look to stay 2m 4f before so I’ll look elsewhere today although the wind op in March may have done the trick. The eye is drawn to Dargiannini at 12/1 who’s racing off a decent mark and who’s gone well fresh before

A day out at Fakenham races to

No no fizz 2.05
Clean Getaway 2.40

Catching 4.25 Fak
Lime Drop 4.07 Uttox
Ew L15

Mikhailovitch Uttox 2.57 win

Well Done
Backed it myself - Harry Derham's horses are running out of their skin.

Brilliant mate id just commented on Andys thread that I doubt many would of found that winner but fair play Viking cracking spot.

Diplomatie 4:15 Newton Abbot should go well for the trainer tomorrow
Diplomatie

I’ve not had her all that long but she ran a nice race at Southwell. The quicker the ground the better for her. Up in distance is a step into the unknown but Vic Malzard who rides her thinks she’ll cope with it well and hopefully she can run a nice race for Vic and her family.
Diplomatie 08/10
She left us in great shape last autumn, not quite such a fruitful campaign in Jersey this summer but good to get Vic back on board after her broken collar bone through the summer which has ruled her out. I wish her and the Malzard family the best of luck with her today. 2nd 15/2

Catalyse 1250c 7/1 in my alerts and Fahey gives it a good write up on SL.
