What Do You Do On Saturdays?

this saturday:

woke up at 8.00 and caught a bit of the morning line then walked dog.
9.00 tuned in to soccer AM, legendary show!
12.00 bacon sarnies then on to internet to place bets.
rest of day spent watching racing, watched HONAN ease into the lead onyl to stumble and get beat. £200 down.
Then when i thought it couldnt get any worse, VALLEY RIDE decides to kick his jockey off just before the line. another £200 gone.

I chose to drown my sorrows by eating out at the local indian restaurant with pals. then onto a few bars & nightclub. returning at 4.30 in the morning :D

Jon:

Nah, one of Phil's black and white jobs and a bit of a fruit loop to be honest but sad nevertheless - not a pleasant way to go.

7:00am Rudely awoken as 3 month old son is apparently hungry !!
8:00am 2 and a half year old daughter wakens hungry !!
9:00am Wife wakens hungry
10:00am Dad appears to help me with replacing skirting in my house
12:00pm Wife makes me two rolls and sliced sausage, which is a wonderful Scottish delicacy
1pm Shower and head off to the citadel of good football that is Fir Park.
1:30pm Have a couple of pre-match pints with Dad and brother
3:00pm Settle down to watch some glorious football
3:45pm Motherwell 1-0 up, should be 3 or 4. Livingston are absolutely hopeless, make mental note to oppose them every week on the fixed odds coupon.
4:45pm A poor second half ends with Motherwell hanging on to their narrow lead, a good 3 points before successive aways trip to the cold sores of Scottish football, Celtic and Rangers.
4:50pm Take semi-abusive phone call from friend who I jointly bet with, as my selection, Celtic have failed to beat Hearts at home, therefore letting the line down.
5:00pm Home to my family.
6:30pm Take my daughter to bed
7:00pm Have tea.
7:30pm Do dishes, clean and sterilise bottles and make up tomorrows milk for son.
8:30pm Watch some rubbish TV
10:30pm Feed son whilst watching Match of the Day, and then go to bed.

5.am Cat decides she is hungry . Feed her and go back to bed .
5.20 Cat is lonely and want's some attention which involves waking me up again .Bring her up to my bed because at least there I can keep an eye on her .
6.am Cat decides she's hungry again . Feed her and go back to bed .
6.30 am Cat has done something in the litter tray and is screaming to have it removed. She won't stay in the same room with her doings for more than 5 mins .Get up and clean the litter tray . I'm exhausted by now and just want to sleep .
9am get up , shower is broke as redring engineer can't attend before Monday F**K . Hate not having a shower . Get papers and watch racing news
11am Watch market movers and muck about online getting odds .
Rest of day is channel hopping from atr to ruk
This week has been an exception as Horse of the year show was on sky last 4 nights . I wish there was more televised showjumping .

Surprising how many of us are woken by others' demands: parrot (love the variety of voices!), cats, dogs, babies, wives, boyfriends, cows, horses... I feel rather hard done by that I only have to wake up for me or a day's work if a meeting's on. Perhaps I can get a timed tape of cows mooing, dogs barking, cats miaowing and parrots squawking "Hallo!" "Buon giorno!" "Hola!" "Gute morgen!" and so on. :D

Once this forum gets sound you can just leave it connected...

9.00 Wake up - Hope it's raining, it isn't - Grass cutting day. Check Betfair for generous prices, don't find any. Get called down to breakfast, unusual, don't have breakfast normally. Wife has cooked scrambled eggs and toast. Like that - but a tad suspicious.
10.00 Look out at grass, looks a bit damp. Go to local farmers market to do shopping. First time there - bit of a dump. Get a nice bread thing with spicey spinach and onion with a coffee. Organic meat guy doesn't show. Get a few bits, but still have to go to the supermarket.
1.00 Grass still looks damp. Have a bit of lunch, salami sandwich and reheated soup that was made on Wednesday. Bring Son and heir to party.
2.15 Settle down to watch racing, wife wonders about grass, tell her it's a bit damp yet. Racing a write-off.
3.30 Get out lawnmower, grass still damp but won't get away with it. Get shovel first and clear the garden of dog poo, footballs, seats, bouncey ball, yoghurt cartons. Cut grass. Missed a dog poo. spend another 15 minutes trying to get it off shoe.
5.00 Grass done. Pressure off. Wife gone collecting son, so I get the dinner. Prawn Salad - not hard. Get prawn juice all over my shirt getting the shells off. Stink. Nice bottle of Sancerre - check to ensure it is ok before wife gets home.
7.00 Wife gets home - delayed scoffing wine at Childrens party - I'm on my second bottle of Sancerre at this stage. Eat dinner. Walk Dog.
8.00 Watch crap on tele and scoff another bottle of wine. Quite pissed now.
12.00ish go up to computer, check if the anti-obrien diatribe has lead to any bannings - seems a bit boring. Go to Final Furlong chat room. Can't figure out what they are on about - assume they are pissed as well
1.00 Go to bed.

6.00am alarm goes off, set it onto snooze for 5 mins, 3 alarms later get up at 6.15. Quietly get up, coffee and toast while multitasking getting ready for work and collecting kids things for day with Nana. Start up car, takes a few tries to get going, leave it to warm up hopefully annoying next door! Scoop up sleeping child into car.
6.45 drop of daughter at mums along with all her kit, call in at newsagents and collect various papers for people at work. sweets, crisps, chocolate to keep me going through the day.
7am arrive at work, not pulling out this morning until 7.45, go up to one of the flats and stick kettle on flick quickly thro RP for todays runners. Get horses going to Huntingdon ready
7.30 tack up pull out 1st lot, get piss taken out of me by boss, easy lot, nothing special, but a sweetheart. Get back, sort horses out, have breakfast, flick between Racing news and soccer am. Rest of morning 1 more lot go for walk round roads, come across other horses, cue sillyseason, thankfully get back still in 1 piece, turn horses out, look busy round yard.
12.30 call back in at mums, have some lunch, back home, take daughter to ride pony. More hassle from idiot next door, tell him no he's not going to park his campervan on my land and definatly cannot use the garages, phone mum to buy padlock and chain when she goes into town. Watch racing on channel 4, cheer on Lambourn winners, great for town to beat the mighty Irish, although Oratorio is a favourite of mine and Zoe.
4.30pm Arrive again at mums, drop of child for night with Nana & granda, drive to pub watch our runners, 1st & 2nd not a bad result! Go to mates to get ready for night out in Newcastle for Goldfragg gig.
7.00pm Newcastle, grab bite to eat, few drinks in Bigg market, excellent night at gig, few more drinks
3am+ back to friends. collapse in bed

Usual Saturday:

Up at half nine, wander down to pick up the RP and Guardian.

Bowl of porridge, fruit and toast for breakfast. Washed down with a mug of tea.

10.00 to 12.00 Read the papers. Chat with herself

12.00 to 13.00 Tidy the kitchen. Do washing.

13.00 Leave for football. Tape the racing (not watched until Sunday morning)

15.00 Tog out for team. I usually play midfield, although I have been employed as a full back since my return.

18.00 (or 19.00 depending on whether we have had a few jars after the match) Arrive back from football

18.00 to 19.30 Read the papers, or a book. Catch up on results from the day

19.30 Have dinner.

20.30 Head out with some friends. Usually in the Balham / Clapham area, but sometimes we are forced to North London.

01.00 to 03.00 Home. See if I can knock a bit of loving out of the missus.
