Which 5 concerts would you like to have been at

In the old days I was at most of the concerts I wanted to be at. However I got bored with the music scene with all the boy/girl/whatsit/who cares bands and dropped out completely. Just got re-connected recently so missed out a lot of decent stuff.

So, suppose I'd really like to have been to see bands like Oasis, Blur, Stone Roses ...... and would have loved to have been at the Zeppelin reunion and Neil Young at Glastonbury. Going way back would have liked to have been at more of the early punk gigs as missed out a lot since I lived in the US then. I did see the Jam, the Damned and the Clash a lot but only saw Sex Pistols in the US.

I saw a lot of the early punk/new wave gigs. West london was where it took off. Never saw the pistols or the damned oddlt enough. Missed pistols last gig at Uxbridge by a hairsbreath. But a few mates saw them a few times and they were always reckoned to be pretty awful (as opposed to pretty vacant). They rarely played live too. The Clash i saw a good few times and they were shocking live. Attitude ok, but you couldnt tell which track they were playing. Buzzcocks were crap live too. They didnt connect. Jam were excellent though and so were the stranglers (who i saw in small hot pubs a few times)

But Dr Feelgood wiped the floor with the lot of them

Anyway, five gigs, Being more soul/jazz...would go like this

For music

John Coltrane at village vanguard around the time of Greensleeves
Billie Holiday at her peak
Sam cooke in a small club at his very firey best

for occasion
Beatles Cavern club
Stones Eel pie island (short walk from my gaff)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor @ the Palais Royale, Toronto in 2003.
Zep @ Knebworth in 1979.
The Allman Brothers Band @ Fillmore East in 1971.
Woodstock 1969.
Nirvana @ the Reading Festival in 1991.

1 Castlemorton illegal rave 1992-was there but missed it:p
2 AC/DC Monsters of Rock Donnington early 80's
3 Iron Maiden Hammersmith odeon Powerslave tour
4 Black Sabbath Hammersmith Odeon early Ozzy days
5 Westlife JLS Jedward next Sat @ Croke Park Im going:D

1. Cream At Back Bay Theatre - have heard the bootleg..my goodness they smoked that night - anyone that thinks Clapton is a pussy on the guitar needs to hear that bootleg.

2. Creams Farewell Concert - not their greatest gig but I just love the atmosphere

3. Free Live At Sheffield 1972..I was at this gig..but want to experience it again - great band

4. Jimi Hendrix at Albert Hall 1969 - this one should be being released properly at some point - got the official boot but want more quality - Hendrix really on here

5. Any Led Zeppelin concert in 1972 - saw them in 1973 but Plant had laryngitis..not much vocals on offer

Van Morrison live in San Francisco
Weather Report live in Tokyo
De Danann somewhere around Galway
Miles Davis, but when or where is hard to choose, he went through so many phases
John McLaughlin, Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola, again in San Francisco.

I'd love to have seen a marathon Springsteen set at his peak. His musical talents seem to provoke a fair amount of debate, but very few seem to question his ability to put on a phenomenal live show even now.

No, they made a double album of it called 8:30. I must get hold of the album you mention, I already have most of theirs.
